A milk tanker fleet in my hometown has gone LNG and it seems to be the perfect place for it. The trucks come to the terminal after every shift and fill up. Of course it was done with government grants so it may not be cost effective. It doesn't need to be if it means good PR.

According to the USDOE, diesel is the most viable fuel for something like the next 100 years.

The engine starts and warms up on diesel and then switches to LNG. Yes, it's spark ignition. A Cummins with spark plugs.
