When the Actros first came out we saw hypoid on some 6x4 over here.
Now only hub reduction on the Actros.
DAF also only offered hub reduction here up till a year ago on 6X4.
Anyway I have to agree with Pablo that Mercedes do a lot of clever things.
I however think that they will have to adopt hypoid axles for the US market just to keep the weight down.

Air suspention is standard for trucktors, not for tippers, but if you want you can order tipper with air suspention. when you actuate tipping operation ECAS dumps all air from suspention

Front drum brakes were available with MP2, but now with MP3 and MP4 all front axes are with disk brakes.

And it is not all. Meritor says they wanna discontinue steer axes with drum brakes soon, so other axe makers will do the same and drum brakes will be available on rear axes only and seems to me all new semis all over the world will be offered with EBS and drum brakes in standard

I'd buy a new cabover in a heartbeat for city work here in Chicago. Would work well for roadsite work too as everything that isn't in a sub-burb is still set-up for 1940's trucks and 30ft trailers LOL

    Container Hauler Thanks this.

he tried to order less then 5 trucks.... yep, it is a problem, but if you order more then 10 trucks - no problem. I sugest Daimler politics is the same all over the world...

I saw some MP2 6x4 with drum brakes (with EBS!!!) and air suspention (ECAS). they are used with dump trailers and low boys by coal companies

First and MP2, but not MP3.

Mercedes discontinued steer axe with drum brakes. but new gen. calipers are wery light and that's why very reliable... it is not all, new disks are made of other kind of cast iron and do not crack when you drive glow red disks into deep puddle!!!!

i remember when mp2 was first time out that i read that there is no more drums for it

also mercedes make lot of differences between markets

for example before few years my father was at truckscore offical mercedes second hand dealer and largest in germany they had few axors brand new 3 and 4 axle as 6x4 6x6 8x4 8x6 and 8x8

there was mark on them they are not for EU markets and croatia

also they were 3340-3343 and 4140 and 4143 axor for europe is build only as 26xx and 32xx as payload optimised trucks only with disc brakes and no as all wheel drive ( on 3and 4 axle )

those ones are much different i must ask him maybe he still have pictures they were white and red with pretty long wheelbases

i saw few turkish build and for turkish market axors with parabolic springs at rear and multi leaf on front

brazilian axor is only with multi leaf springs on rear and parabolic on front

did ever see mp3 actros with euro 3engine?

i can see them often there is one bodybuilder in my town they mainly works on special vehicles for export

did you ever heard for mp3 actros and engines xx31 xx40 and xx48 v8

The cab-over market in the U.S. will be re-invigorated if some people have their way. I have read several articles proposing a higher weight allowance on U.S. highways. Some articles state a proposed 96,000lbs. One of the proposed compromises is if that new weight limit is implemented, they want to re-impose bumper to bumper length limits. While I do not understand the thinking behind that proposed compromise, if it went through as stated in the last article I read, only cab-overs would work with a 53 foot trailer.

In Russia now there is 20 m from bumper to bumper limit (65'). I cant use conventionals with longer 48' trailer. So cabovers are popular.

That's why I underswtand that I need cabover too. Really I like Axor for its simpler design.

MP2 you see on shots in Oregon are discontinued now.

sounds like Australia. We have a 19m limit for single trailers.

We do have 48' trailers, but they can only be legally pulled by cabovers or short bonnet 30 something inch sleeper conventionals, ie western star 4800fx
