Huge storm coming! Anyone one have any driving advice besides " dont do it."

Candles? Matches? I much prefer a portable Honda generator, 5 gallons of gasoline and a 500 Watt halogen work light.

 

that's about as practical as a lead ballon.

 

It's my anti-idle solution, minus the halogen work light. Much less expensive than an APU.

 

This time of year a webasto is all that is needed. 0.25 gallons for 10 hours. Cook you right out of the truck if you crank it all the way up. Draws hardly any current from the batteries.

 

how much is your "generator"?

And you have to fiddle around with gas.

Have you put in a bunk heater yet? How much is THAT going to cost you.

How about that AC?

Yeah, you may think you are making out.

I'd rather just buy a truck with a real APU already installed.

Bunk heater? Works great. Especially with this winter weather. Already spent a couple nights at 20 degree. Truck was nice and toasty.

With the arctic kit option already installed too, it kept the engine at 120 degrees.

These APU's do so much more than you have ever even considered before you go tossing your money to the wind on them.

 

Hunts point is about 3 feet above sea level, on the north side of the bay. Not the best side of the storm to be on.

 

It's all you need, but even those Webasto's are $2500-3300. At least that's the prices I was finding online.

I just found some for $900 or $1200 installed.

 

I paid $1400 installed. Canadian dollars. AT 2000 ST. Some of the best money ever spent on this truck.

 

I should also add I only suffer for maybe 2 months in summer of hot nights. Don't really feel the need for AC for that. For the time being I will just suffer the heat. I try to stay up top where it isn't 100 at night.

 

Last i heard the storm is most likely to come up the delaware bay and smack southern jersey (woohoo me i live a 1/4 mile from the river banks about 10 miles up from where it becomes the delaware bay), philly area and the delmarva. It also is coinciding with the full moon and hitting during high tide. Flooding will be bad in low lying areas. High winds with gust 75+ are very possible. Anyone parked at the flying j in carneys point, nj- flooding is a real possibility there.
