Budget was cheaper by a few hundred bucks for my 200 mile move. Uhaul may be cheaper for a cross country move due to their size.
Umm.. Gonna move from Minneapolis to Phoenix - Thinking Uhaul .. Am I an Idiot

i worked for uhaul in phoenix there are not bad to use but i would call them and tell them that penske is a few hunded or so cheaper they will match that price or beat it most the time
-
I moved from north Idaho to Phoenix about a year and a half ago and I used a Penske 26' box truck and a trailer with my wife's Jeep on it and it cost us about $800 for the truck and trailer and about $500 in fuel. I have a full 3 bedroom house full of stuff and we still had room in the truck. Also when you get down here to Phoenix, just go by the most local Home Depot and you can have alot of help unloading your truck!!!

try PackRat. dont know about their prices but hear about em on tv everysooften.
-
Don't forget Penske too. Just have to compare them all.
-
OK, rent it "local". Pick up/drop off in the same city, which means deadheading back to city of origin. This only works with a trailer, which has no odometer, right ?
-
Check Penske and Budget also

Penske is the only way to go. Far more reliable trucks. Don't have to worry about breaking down halfway there. and price is generally better too.
-
Better rate yet by far
But also agree with posting about just finding an old pickup and trailer, sell em when getting there
recoup most or all of original payout, tried this on previous move, used an old caravan, rented smallest uhaul, sold caravan days after settling in, final savings priceless because we were able to disconnect trailer at different destinations and act like tourists for a day or two. after sale of van, we realized a net loss of only 300$ and the fuel mileage was fantastic compared to a 9mpg truck -
Penske is usually a few hundred cheaper than uhaul... PLUS Penske has a WAY better maintained fleet. Most uhaul trucks are rolling death traps, IMHO.
