You're very welcome! I grew up in St Charles, what part are you from?
I also heard that Jett pays more than any other but Indiana Transport keeps you rolling when others are dead in the water.

Born & raised in Kirkwood...HS in Ladue...Then out to NY for culinary school...Now...54....a retired chef looking for a new career, Getting ready to buy a Freightliner FL-60 and a center rail trailer to haul RV's out to the east coast & hopefully cars or something else back. Spent a lot of time researching this new career change.

I just checked out Indiana transport...I like the idea of the smaller sized company...NOW...worked for Marriott Int'l for 30 years...and they were huge.

I've got relatives from your old neck of the woods, Morgans, Kouriks, Jennings and a few others. I'm 54 too, graduated St Charles high in 76.

I think the best company will be the one that fits you. Talk to member Road Medic. He knows all the ins and outs of the RV hauling game.

I'll try to get some advice from him...But...I realize...life experiences are quite valuable...and much like myself in my previous career...You're not just going to give away the farm...

So Far...The conclusions that I've come up with ...if your going to haul RV's out and pick up something on the way back...then...you might as well take as many as you can..? Correct...? More units out...more $/mile...anything back on the deadhead side is a bonus ?

Truck wise...Pick up trucks just wont hold up...so why not go overkill and put less stress on a large vehicle...then put a ton of stress on a smaller vehicle...Correct...?

FYI...I havn't been back to St Louis since Auggie Busch died...way back when....my dad was a batboy for the 44' Browns...I grew up with baseball and he was very close with the Busch family...My grandfather was in Vaudeville in NYC and later moved back to St Louis and had bowling alleys all over the place...Called the "Palladium Bowl"
    The old neighborhood...From what I'm told...Kirkwood & Clayton has dropped off...way off.

Maybe to much info on here..about me ....so far ?

I think you'll be surprised in how open and helpful all these people are. They won't conceal or misguide you. It isn't like the industry environment you're coming from. There are no big secrets or snootiness going on here.

A full size single axle semi truck is what you want to run. An FL won't cut it, people that have done it hate them, they don't work, no power or fuel mileage with them. The money is in hauling enclosed utility trailers out and cars back.

Thats what I really like & enjoy about the Midwest...is how open & honest and helpful people are...most of'em anyway...

If this was in NY...my home would be robbed by tomorrow...

    I'm open to suggestions....Truck wise..?
