Did you ask management about it? This reminds me what started the annoying part of people not waving. Load locks are sometimes hard to come by and yes you can get them replaced, but it's another hassle and I hate sitting around waiting for the Qualcomm replies, especially on the weekend. Well, the first person that was staring straight at me and didn't wave had a full rack of load locks. Must be nice, I thought. Then he pulls two out if his trailer to put on the next load. No, it's not right to judge people, but I would be willing to bet he didn't go out and buy four more load locks with his own money. No wonder you can never get them in drop yards. Heard another driver saying they would take them from an unsecured rack... Bunch of uncivilized good for nothing's! Then again, I'm running by the house and it's a great day! *picture coming when I get a laptop and quit having to depend on my iPhone for Internet.

When we first started we hardly had any loadlocks. By the time we left, we had 6 plus two at home. Before anyone judges let me remind you that you pay for 2 loadlocks and the lock kit when you start, and once we actually bought 2, so I don't feel bad.

Sometimes load locks are left in sealed trailers, and the driver delivering that load will end up with them. We always seem to be the one dropping the trailer WITH the load locks, so end up having to purchase more... It's a pain, but I'd prefer to jump through THAT hoop, than have a load tip and have to deal with OS&D!!

One more week of work then get to spent a day or two with the hubby for anniversary ..yea ...then I get to ride with him for a couple of weeks ...we will soon see how I like the rode and if I will start driving school after the holidays ...everyone have a safe and happy Halloween ...

I agree with lady k I am always dropping trailers with load locks in them. Taking cheese out to Springfield. You are required to put 2 in even though the load is only 2 feet high. Then you get a load out of there with no load locks. Where are they going. I saw a guy at the yard who had a full rack and 8 more between his bat wings. I asked him about it and apparently he is local and goes through 20+ a day.Truth or BS? Not sure but it's something to thank about

I've dropped six in a day, running 180 mile loads back and forth. Have started asking them for a set at the warehouse if I run out. Turns out they have "hundreds." I think they just pile them up in one spot. They always bring me a pair if there is someone around to do it or I ask the yard dog if I see him bumping a dock.

Hey Punky74...I haven't posted for awhile as I've been out on my trainers truck and no internet access...till now as I broke down and paid $20 for a month's worth of access (accessible through the wireless service at most TS). I haven't gone through all the responses to your post yet, so if this is redundant, my apologies. I can't answer what you get standard on whatever truck you end up with after you upgrade - I'll find out about mid Nov for me. However, my understanding is you get a basic truck...clean but basic. You get to buy all the bells and whistles. For me...my top items are cooler (either iced or 12v), XM radio (or Sirus), wireless air card, Verizon cell service...tmobile pretty much sucks, and "maybe" a CB. Don't need a tv...I have a laptop with movies on it. Not much of a gamer so don't need Xbox or ps3 or the like.
Hazmat - I think you would probably do better with getting doubles/triples endorsement rather than hazmat - for me, too much to worry about with hazmat loads.
What intrigued me most about your post was your wanting to change from the corporate life to trucking. For me, I feel I made a good choice. I don't want the headache of having to be frustrated in an office job anymore...even when I take care of my stuff, someone else is always screwing something up that all of a sudden becomes your fault. Now I know the same attitude can be said in the trucking industry as well...you are driving along being very careful in what you do (let's say winter driving), when some bozoo in a 4x4 thinks that they are god's gift to driving...and they ruin your perfectly good day. Having said that...I'm liking my choice to move into trucking and getting out of the office.
