I'll get back to you guys later. But Hey its Real Time and Just got a Pre Plan its Picking up in Fairfield Oh at 1400 Not going to make that. I'll be close Delivers at 3:30am tmrw. IN Forest Park GA. The miles are as follows. 476 loaded and 173 Empty. We gota Roll So please leave your comments I don't care if you are for me or against me. This is a free country. So speak freely. What is in your heart my friend. Was only able to read the steering wheel holder comment. Didn't Finish it. This is my companies truck. They pay for fuel and the truck payment. So I'll fuel where they want me too. As far as the route as I said I am the captain for the most part when getting her done. But again will finish reading once I pull the breaks in Fairfield Oh. Also trailer not bloody so really debating if I'm going to get it washed out. I know the lines will not be that long and since I'm picking up chicken it would be a best to go ahead and wash her out. See ya and wouldn't want to be ya. We back quiet.

Pulled the breaks in Fairfield OH at 15:45 had to fuel and get trailer washed out. The route had me fueling in Hebron right next to the truck wash so I got both done. Don't look like I'll make apt for the time being. They may relay load somewhere. Its aprox 8 hr and 15min and I only have 7 hr and 46 mins b4 my break. We will see what happens. The paid miles is close to 650 which I didn't add up and you actual miles are 496 loaded. 173 loaded= 669 and I could do that if I was doing a straight shot all interstate. It will be all Interstate to Forest Park, but took me 3hr 15 mins to get here due to rain and 2 lane speed limits. So we will get back to you in Real time on the progress.
scottied67 and mje Thank this. -
Looks like I may be sitting on this load for a couple of days. They just started loading me at 18:30 and I'm down to 6 hours to drive. So I do believe I'm going to go ahead and take a split break and get where I can in the morning. I don't want to lose anytime. So its best to get 4 more hours in the sleeper then I will have my 7hr and 46mins to run instead of having only 5 hours or so and at the end of that sleeping another 8 hours. So this is why I call this real time. Because even when you think you have things in control. There's always a monkey wrench that can be thrown. So we back quiet and we will get back to you tomorrow some Time.

All things that SHOULD be taught to a driver who is out with a trainer for the first time.
'olhand,
How did YOU learn it so many years ago? Or did you just rely on your dispatcher to simply tell you what to do when you stopped every two hours to make your check call during the day?
What's dinomite going to do when, not if, WHEN the system fails. Guess what, Qualcomm went down last summer for 3 days. NO ONE had a working qualcomm. Swift, Prime, CR England, McKimm (company I drove for), NO ONE.
You going to shut down and not move because the Qualcomm went down? Plan your fuel stops?
It's great that a computer system can and will help save a fleet money. I'm all for it. But like so much, it's a mechanical device that is subject to fail.
If you can't articulate WHY the system is telling you to do something, you need to be brought up to speed. If not, your training department has failed their job. That includes teaching new drivers about IFTA, base price of fuel and the impact it has on the company.
Why did I get fuel in Glyndon MN for 4.379, 20 miles into the state instead of going to Petro for 4.299? in Fargo ND which I drove RIGHT PAST? Both were directly enroute to where I needed to go. I put on 143 gallons of fuel too. BTW, my running IFTA report right now, shows I OWE $11.23 for 4th quarter. (that's a hint)
If ALL the drivers are brought up to speed on it, you can save the company several 10's of 1000's or even 100's of 1000's in fuel cost each year. Enough that you can put that money into driver pay. But everyone needs to understand WHY it's being done.
To many times, dispatchers won't share the "why" with a driver, management won't share the "why" with a driver. A simple statement with the truth will stop rumors, issues or hassles before they even have a chance to start.
Information is power. And the people with that information too often refuse to share it.
It's that important to your daily trip plans. You might THINK you need to get 100 gallons in Indiana, but you might be able to get by with 50 gallons there if you are going to really be relaying a trailer to someone who will go one direction and you will be reversed back to Illinois where it would do you better to get 150 gallons instead.mje Thanks this. -
Well I have been on E Logs and qualcomm for the last 2 years and Not once did Qualcomm stop working to the point I couldn't see what was going on. I had to do paper 1 day and that was just in case it had messed up. Qualcomm goes down all the time but my elogs are always on point. I have a log book and can use it if it goes down. I'm not a rookie by any means. B4 the the fuel route we had a list of fuel stops we can use. Anyway just wanted to show the folks what happens when you go beyond you little little 3 hour cushion.
So IF I left now I only could drive as much as the middle line allows not the top line, but I'm going to do 3 more hours and I'll be able to drive my 7:46.
Also MN I'm just having fun these people are going to have trainers I hope so they will teach them as well as the trucking school they go too. This is just a little practice to see what goes through the mind of kid Dino mite!! lol Anyway back to bed.mje Thanks this. -

It's your COMPANIES MONEY and that relates to any pay increase you MIGHT be able to receive.
If you drive 130,000 miles annually, you will use (if you average 6 mpg) 21,667 gallons of fuel. If you save your employer 5 cents per gallon and show him that you might care just a little bit, that amounts to $1082.
That right there is your 3% annual Cost of living adjustment raise you could have.
All simply from paying attention to fuel taxes and your fuel base price.mje Thanks this. -
You are putting me to sleep MN driver. I'm at top pay. I have been since I been here. If I want an increase I get over 6.75mpg and use their fuel route. I have and that has gotten me about 3,000 in the bank. Also there is 320,000 miles on my truck. I put all of them on it. in less then the 2 1/2 years I have been here. I had a truck before this one. I put some miles on as well. So please my friend. I know what I'm doing. G day sir.
mje Thanks this. -
I never said you didn't
You want newer drivers to understand this stuff, then explain it to them.
Otherwise, I do consider you now a steering wheel holder. Because as you say, "you don't care"...
mje Thanks this. -
I don't care about no fuel tax if you want to play with the big boys and lose your tail trying to be an owner operator. Go right ahead. I don't need that information. If you want to tell them go right ahead. This is why I said Its Rollin with Dino and Others. So go right ahead. Now how much of that are these newbies going to actually put into practice in their year. Keep it plain and simple don't overload them with stuff they will have no control over. Most will Have qualcomm or some type of satellite device and fuel solutions. Its like you telling people about double clutching. You don't need that. Anyway I got work to do. So I'll catch you on the rebound. I'll be whatever you say I am. Steering wheel holder extraordinaire.
mje Thanks this.
