Ok i have a problem. I have a cobra 29 lx and a kentwood fm radio. now the problem is when i key up my mic on my cb my voice comes thru my radio speakers. then the fm goes into protect mode. most of the time i don't have to talk in the mic i can jus deadkey and and the fm goes into protect mode. i have a amp on the cb but it's not hooked up because of this problem. i have the cb hooked up to the cb wires in the truck. can anyone point me in the direction i need to be.. thanks

Can you help us out a little with the Kenwood radio? Is it a two-way business radio, something with a microphone, or just a stereo good times radio? How far apart are the antennas on the roof (or mirrors, or whatever), and what is the protect mode you're speaking of? I'm familiar with some of the Kenwood business and ham gear, but none of their be-bop radios, so I don't have enough info yet to answer your question. Of course, there may be a dozen or more folks here who already *do* have sufficient info to go with, but I'm kinda in the dark with what you've supplied so far.
As for the "CB wires in the truck", do you mean the red & black binding posts on top of the dash for the power? And is the Kenwood a factory install or an aftermarket one?

sry i didn't give more info. the kenwood deck is a after market deck model: kdc-bt752hd. it does have a microphone for bluetooth/hands free. I had the antennas on the mirrors. i thought that was the problem so i moved to a single ant. on the headache rack behind the sleeper. and i also forgot to put that i have a 2007 pete and they don't have the red and black post like the older models. "i wish it did" the only thing i saw was two wires labeled cb so i hooked the cb to that. i guess the radio goes into a protect mode so it doesn't burn it up. that's the first radio i owned that did that. i have to detach the face and press the reset button for the radio starts playing again.

Sounds like RF getting into the stereo amp.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that the protection circuit is being tripped by RF coming in through the speaker wires. It sees the voltage coming in, and shuts down the amp.

As for your voice coming through... that could be anywhere.

ms jamie is their a fix for that? i do have my rf gain turned up. i do have a palomar 250hd hooked to the cb but no power to the amp. my voice comes thru the fm radio speakers. it's like having surround sound talkback. it drives me crazy hearing that and i have to turn my fm off when i talk on the cb. i love my music but i love to talk on my cb..:biggrin_255:

Try removing the RF cables off the linear, and just hooking the ant. right to the CB. Just to see.
A poor SWR or poor antenna GND (bad ground is possible even with a good SWR) can cause this kind of thing. There are clamp-on ferrite 'bricks' you can try on the wires going to the FM or amp. Have you a good metal GND in the truck you can ground the CB case to? Some troubles happen due to a poor ground in the transmit path, meaning that this lets the coaxial cable outer shield radiate RF, and that will get into things. The metal case of the CB and the shield of the cable are the 'negative' side of the RF circuit and ought to be grounded somewhere. Normally the cable is grounded at the antenna base and that is good enough.
