Sounds like perfect terrain to me...but I'm getting pretty tired of people these days, and could use an opportunity to get 'lost' for awhile.

"A survivor can. But the mountainous terrain and towns stretched 20 miles apart it is easy to walk in circles for days on end."

^^^ That's why, if I get lost in the woods, I always walk towards the sun. Find a good place to hide out during the night. And then walk towards the sun again in the morning. This tactic never fails :)

And now I'm wondering if he was driving for a company, or made himself an O/O based off of what he made with his last conviction.

And if he was working for a company, one has to wonder which one it was and the rocket scientist that hired him......

Walking towards the sun is alright, if you don't have any idea of the surrounding terrain. Me, I've found a good map is indispensible. Believe it or not, my Commercial Motor Carriers Atlas is pretty handy for moving around, especially if you are trying to avoid towns and cities.

If you find yourself lost in the woods, head downhill first. Downhill will generally lead to water, and water generally leads to 'civilization'. Also, when out wandering around, try to keep a partner. Falling in the woods (especially in terrrain like TN or WV) can be potentially fatal without assistance. You break an ankle or a leg, you ain't going anywhere fast, or at all.

i always wonder, on these types of busts, what tipped off DOT?

one time, Laredo border crossing found a couple of million dollars in the floorboard of a fully loaded bus

Well if yer dumb enough to do something illeagal and not plan the whole thing out better, you deserve what you get.

Some ppl can disapear in a big city and never be found, others into the woods and mountians. They really should go back to teaching map reading in school. I have friends whose kids don't know what a topigraphical map is, let alone how to read one.
