i do not believe he is a law enforcement officer. le's are intelligent and respectful of others. he sounds very young to me. like in his mid 20's. i think he is a "chain yanker" and drives a 4 wheeler, using the guize of le to sound important, because his comments show no real intelligence. if he was le, he would know how difficult it is to manuver amoung the 4 wheelers, and how doing so causes most accidents. also sounds as if he has a bit of road rage going on. a cop with road rage??? squid: grow up.

the state speed limits also contribute to slow truck traffic. cars 70 trucks 55? it is difficult to maintain speed when traveling in the right lane. trucks take longer to get up to speed to begin with and when a car pulls out in front of you and you have to hit the brakes, well it just takes longer to compensate. traveling the middle lane is traveling the lane with the least resistance. has nothing to do with a truckers well being. and, it is safer for all.

There was a letter to the editor in our local newspaper about this topic.

Also, now, with the snow and ice and nasty road conditions we have, I cant possibly imagine driving in the right hand lane... its bad enough in the middle lane keeping traction and slowing down for traffic lights!

Yea, I heard Alberta was due for some snow this week. Arkansas is too! (Keeps fingers crossed for a Snow Day)

Worst Merging Drivers: Northwest Arkansas, I-540. Not only do the 4-wheelers do it to Trucks (some JBHT Boxes, some Fuel Tankers, some of those Praxair Liquified Oxidizer Radioactive Flammables as well) they do it to the OTHER 4-wheelers, including Cops! Cut across so they can get over to Restaurant Row off of Exit 85 in Rogers/Bentonville. It's as if they do it on purpose to see if they can get someone to come up to their door and have it out with them!

Not necessarily Gypsie. When the big drug bust of the mid 70's took place in NY City, they arrested and jailed 75% of the drug enforcment officers. They just made a movie about it. Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas -
    2007 Movie - "American Gangster"

Just because someone puts a uniform on within the law enforcement world does not mean they are any more intelligent than anyone else!

Our border patrol personnel have been on the take for decades; at least a large percentage of them, or the so called "War on Drugs" would have put the industry down a long time ago.

DOT don't write tickets based on safety issues 98% of the time. It is about the political world they support and the revenues needed to run the system.

However, there are good cops out there just like there are some great people driving truck. I know, as I was one of them before I retired.

Now, you could be right about this chap not being a cop and being too young to have grown any hair on his chest yet; at least any real brain activity in his cranial cavity; and his synapses probably don't function at 100% capacity.:biggrin_25523:

Split speed limits have nothing to do with safety. They are set for revenue collection because the powers understand that illegal and unpopular laws will not be obeyed. This gives them the avenue of revenue collection and unfortunately they hurt a lot of good drivers, just doing their job.

Big Government is not in the best interest of the people, but the people have the attitude that "Authority is Truth" rather than "Truth is the Authority". Any State that requires split speed laws should have a state law that increased drivers mileage and hourly wages protected at a rate double other states. I'd do 55 in a state that would sustain my pay at a minimum of $3 per mile plus fuel sur charges, but that would not allow for enough revenue collection from speeding fines.

When the people wake up and demand what they have a right to demand of Government, things may change. I doubt we will ever see that happen though as people think "Authority is all about the Truth, rather than the other way around!":biggrin_25510:

People who drive cars and light vehicles today are very careless in the way they drive. This shows in the erratic lane changes, the unnecessarily high speeds, the failure to signal before a turn or lane change. The motoring public has gotten the impression somehow that they are special, that they should somehow not have to deal with trucks. This will only happen if truck only lanes are built. Left lane restrictions do nothing more than provide that sense of superiority to car and light truck drivers. The areas that have these restrictions are no safer and no more "efficient" than any other. In fact most areas with 3 lanes and a left lane restriction people are afraid to use the left lane and would rather pass on the right(illegal maneuver). I think everyone should be required to take a lengthy driving test to renew their license(all drivers) as there are way too many careless idiots out there in both cars and trucks.

All true. People just get behind the wheel and they own the road. If you are in the way, they can get highly irate at times. Nothing like getting the finger from a complete i d i o t.

A big one I can't stand is the ####### that run up on the left when there is a lane closed for construction. The barrels are already closing the lane and they are too stupid to realize they should have moved over 100 yrs earlier. I did have one last week that should be a far smarter driver than he was. But that is probably asking too much of a 4 wheeler.
I saw him coming and stood on it. A 500 CAT is good for some thing. :biggrin_25523:
It was funny watching him darting and ducking trying to avoid the barrels and my trailer. Scared the snot out of him.
