I know a former driver that worked out of Columbus and did what you are doing and liked it. I was on a dedicated account once at a different location with the same 5/2 schedule but it was a living hell. I hope it works for you.

Send messages on your qualcomm in addition to your phone call and you will be documented. Hopefully you will have a good DBL and won't need to do that. But if you have a bad DBL, use that Qualcomm regularly.
-
Could be you have a good DBL. I've been with SNI 5 years and I've had several DBLs. One was awesome. One I wanted to kill. There were others in between.
-
Ditto. And remember that SNI is sincere when they say you are the Captain of you own ship. I have never had any problems when shutting down due to weather. Just make sure you communicate and explain why you are shutting down. The two big positives about SNI is that they are absolutely sincere about safety, and logging legal.
-
They just say that so if you get killed by a natural disaster, the blood isn't on their hands. And they have a paper trail frowthem sending you that bullcrap message. Smart on their part don't you think? You have to see the total picture.
-
I have never been told to keep moving when shutting down for safety reasons. Even if they did I wouldn't move the truck if I didn't feel it was safe to do so.

I second this. I called in once the first snow of my first year driving and I was scared to death. I called in to let them know I was shutting down becasue I didn't feel safe driving. I wasn't too far from my OC. They did comment that it was just a light dusting at that point and should still be safe driving. Told them I was scared to keep going. They said okay, they would put it in my notes.
Never heard about it again and was never "punished" in anyway. I even had 100% for service, even thought it made me late to 2 Wal-Marts.
By the end of the winter I laughed about it. It was nothing but I was scared to death to keep driving a big truck in it. They even said don't worry about it casue they would rather have a service failure on the company than to loose the load by me flipping it in a ditch becasue I was too scared but kept going.
Though this was in 2004, and they are a different company now, I still think this stands true. -
They must like you. When I put in my notice, I got nothing!

But I'll be very interested in how this turns out for you. I really hope it goes well....but I'm not holding my breath....especially in terms of miles. -
I have shut down due to weather on multiple occasions and have never been Service Failed. If you update your ETA and give the reason for late delivery you will be fine. It is possible that you could have an unreasonable DBL, so make sure you are documented via qualcomm messages. That way an OSR can explain to an unreasonable DBL that SNI is serious about safety.
