    lease programs are RENTAL programs.

however, they do work in a similar manner typical to car leases. which means a BALLOON PAYMENT at the end. for trucks it's around 70G. i'm guessing you don't have 70G or you would have bought your own truck and went OWNER OPERATOR instead of lease(RENTAL) operator.

most companies, however, don't allow the option to purchase. as they are used to trade ins. to which they do every 3 years. meaning, no truck in the fleet is kept after it's 3 years old.

the fees one pays for being a rental operator are enormous. compared to a real owner operator.
the pay is also less compared to a real owner operator.,

owner operators won't haul for less then $2.00 per mile more or less.

rental operators are hauling for $.90 per mile.

@ a $1.40 a mile they are ripping you off. Sorry that's just how it is. I used to make that same rate on loaded miles, 90 cents empty, practical miles. Risinger does pay surcharge on empty miles too I believe but it still works out to about a $1.30 a mile. Fuel discounts and plates don't make up for the huge cut they are taking off your truck. Do you ever run little 150 or 200 mile loads for them on occasion and realize what they are making off you? Even on the longer hauls they are taking a nice chunk. Not trying to beat you up cause I've been there and I know there ain't no money in it.

Are you getting about 20 mpg out of your truck?

    Are you paying yourself?

Are you putting away enough money for the day when the big repair bill comes you can afford it?

At 1.40, it isn't making money, you might be simply paying the truck off. When it is paid off, you can now take the monthly payment amount and use that money for repairs. You will end up with a truck with so many miles on it and it is worth nothing. If you are lucky you will have been able to pay yourself the same as what you could make as a company driver, while assuming all the risk.

Oh young one, you have so much to learn.

What looks good on paper is usually not reality.

This is truck number 2 for me.I am not a newbie.1.40 is a decent rate for leasing on with any company.I just had my turbo replaced and that isnt a cheap job.I am a single parent and have been able to help my children with the things they need.Being a owner gives you the flexability to go home when you want to and stay home til your ready to roll again. There are some decent companies and I have been through some really crappy ones.I dont get paid .90 and if you really want to know what they pay give them a call

he is right they pay you $1.40 but they are making what you make plus that because they also taking from you at the same time. My motto, "No Cheap Frieght".

Dry Van should pay at least $1.50 plus fuel surcharge, reefer should pay $1.65 plus fsc

If a person is hauling for 1.40 per mile all in, then in reality you are puling .90 cpm freight. Take off .50 per mile fuel surcharge and see what you have left. 90 cpm is year 2000 rates.

I am leased onto a company I do not have my own authority or trailer.I am not responsible for permits or tags or dot audits.I just hook and go.For some that is a better way to go.I dont have to look for loads or deal with brokers, deal with the dot paperwork other then logs, maintain a trailer. After you add the extra expenses 1.40 is not a bad deal.I dont know where the .90 cents comes from but there is some companies who try to hire lease drivers for that rate but not me.1.40 all miles
