Aren't carriers obligated by law to do a 10 year job history check?

No they are required to have 10 years of history on file but not all of it has to be verified.

In trying to familiarize myself with the maze of FMCSA regulations, and doing other research, it seems that there's a specific reg on this stating that 3 yrs' job history is required if there's no commercial driving in your past, and 10 yrs if there is. Someone on another thread cut and pasted the actual reg from the FMCSA website.

Hmm, I dunno, I will have to check into that. I am not 100% positive so don't hold me to my word but I will try to see what I can find out.
