VCADs what is this ??? can i do it or is this a dealer thing ???

VCADS is a part of Tech Tool software now

 

you cant get tech tool, but Volvo sell it to dealers

 

im looking for all the fault codes now but ive been told they are all in vcads so im trying to find a way of getting them......pablo??????

 

to read my fault codes of 06 volvo 630 D12 I got:

- "old" laptop with windows xp/vista on it - $100
- nexig usb link - its an adapter to connect truck with laptop - around $700
- VCADS - program to run it on laptop in order to diagnose ur truck - around $150

you dont need dealer to read/diagnose ur truck..

You can get Tech tool and it's pretty simple to use but newer volvo's are pretty easy to diagnose because most of the time they tell u the fault code on the information center its the same thing that vcad would do, the difference with vcad is that you can do all the test which is good but you also have to know what you're doing to be able to know the right values for the particular components. I work on ved12 a lot and also do a lot with vcad and it's great once you get used on how to use it. As far as you're bad fuel economy the first thing I would is check the Boost "o" rings right under the turbo they like to go bad and it's really quick and easy to replace also check for egr codes the codes are MID 128 Sid 146 for egr #1 and MID 128 SID 266 for egr number 2
