ok some people have been kind of following me the last day on me talking about CR England and how i was going to go out to Utah for the school training. ok since yesterday, i have received offers from CRST, Central Refridgerated and Swift. Possibly Millis too. I called Millis and I had to give more employment on my application, just resent it. but anyway guys, have any of you driven with any of these companies or better yet, gone throught there training program? if so i would love to hear your stories and opinions. i do have a friend who is a driver trainer at CRST and he advises i stay far away, said the men hassle the women daily, hourly. i can handle myself but i trust his opinion. any advice, experience stories, and information is welcome, i dont care if it be negative or positvie. i just want to be well informed. i have done research, yeah there is good and bad with ANY company, i just got to make the best of it, where i go. but i really want to hear what you guys think and experienced :)

Hello this is a response I got from a driver when I posed the question "central ref vs Prime Inc training" hope this helps out, I know it def helped ease my mind, given Im a newbie myself.

"I don't know about Prime and won't say anything about them because of that ... But the training program at Central is good. Just have to deal with the long bus ride from Conley to SLC. If you go with Central out of Florida they will bus you to Conley (Atlanta) for 1 week. There you will do all the hiring paperwork and bookwork for the Utah CDL Restricted test. At the end of the week you will get bussed from Conley to SLC.

I highly suggest bringing some form of battery powered phone charger. Unless Greyhound has upgraded that bus fleet there will be no way to charge any device on the bus, and you'll be on the bus for 3 without delays. Also bring some water pills as the long ride might cuase your feet and legs to swell.

Once you get to SLC you will more than likely be placed in the Ramada Inn. Decent motel. 2 people to a room. They have a resturant that is fairly priced and comes with alot of food for what you pay. They also have public computers if you dn't bring one. The motel has a bar in it also ... DO NOT GO INSIDE THAT BAR FOR ANY REASON. Not even for change.

Through the next week you'll get your learning permit and start driving. The driving is decent but could have been better. You will drive an old hwy learning how to up and down shift before getting on the interstate. This will happen for about 2 days. Then they will take you into a commercial area to drive, this helps with up/down shifting for city streets. Towards the end of the week you will be taken out to the mountains and allwoed to drive a few grades, which helped me alot coming out of Florida as well.

They training could have been better but still wasn't that bad. BTW, just like most companies your lunch will be furnished for you. Only difference is that at Central the lunch is made at the company resturant. You can pick from the choices or get a $5.00 voucher to use for something else if you choose.

If you didn't do you're training at Central my only suggestion would be to shut your ignorant mouth and continue to listen to Bubba from Middleburg for advise on what to do and when to do it.

You are incorrect. I live in Florida, got my CDL from Utah at Central and went home to FLorida to renew. No road test, No computer test. Only the $75 fee to renew and get a CLass A CDL.

Central does 4 students to a truck with 1 instructer. Not the best way to learn but still works. After you test out and pass your test you will be placed with a Trainer for 28 days. Most of the btrainers are decent but you will have a few idiots. The training Dept is big on making sure that the student is treated properly. If you have any issues don't hesitate to call them."

Typically you are surely going to get more bad and bashing, negative comments on companies because truckers in general would just rather ##### then commend or complement! Also with these mega-carriers its just statistics. They hire and fire thousands of drivers so you will always here more about these companies just because of the number of people.

Make a list of your wants and needs and just start combing the internet. Once you have boiled it down to a couple dozen or so companies then start calling recruiters. They all have their goods and bads and none of them are really that evil. There are a few I personally wouldn't go near but that's my just my opinion. A company that I absolutely despise maybe a company in which you have a long lasting career with and love it there.

If you can't decide just put all the names in a hat and choose that way!

Out of all the companies you have listed, hands down I would go with Millis if you can get in there.

In addition to this post I would add, you rarely run in to a Millis driver that is not pretty well pleased, I would go over this forum as much as you can stand before making your mind up completely, the research will pay you back in the long run.
