I would like to start out by saying that I have local experience in the logging industry; therefore, I have no other company experience to compare SWIFT to as far as OTR experience. I have now been with this company 2 years. Within this two years, I have accumulated just over 211k miles.
When I first started. miles were slow with meaningless loads. I guess this to see if I was actually able to do what is require of me. However, after a couple of months, I was seeing an average of 2800-3100 miles per week with, what I feel are better loads that I would rather not specify the customers. Now the pay, at that time was still not great, and forced dispatch can sometimes be a pain. I did, however, find that if I helped the planners out, they will return the favor if at all possible (more times than not).
So, after 7 months, while maintaining no less than 2800 miles on average, I went against the critics and signed me a lease on a new KW T660. I did this, not because I disliked the way things were going in a company truck, rather I wanted more control of how, and where I ran. I still accept 80-90% of the preplans, and rarely use the load offer as I am usually planned up before I make my final drop.
The benefits that I have found leasing are as follows: Guaranteed to get home when you request, the ability to fuel where you want, and the ability to install addons, such as inverters, and the ability to get work done on your tractor anywhere at . And, while I do have the macro 30, I have no problems running over my 2800 mile goal weekly.
Now, for the reason this company fits my situation. I can go home when I need to, not a day after, not a day before, and if I stay for an extended amount of time, I do not have to turn in my truck. I can have my puppy, of whom, has become part of my family. I can run where I want to, when I want to, even though I have no access to the load board. However, we should be getting that in the future. I am hoping it models SNIs. And best of all, I have better, much better checks, than when I did when I was a company driver. Well this does it for now, I know I skipped a lot, so feel free to answer any questions you may have.

What's your payment on the rig?
The year and miles on the rig?
Are you still running your 2800 average miles?
Also what is the pay rate for a Lease operator?
However, most of all what is the fuel surcharge?
How many years are you obligated to pay for that rig? -
I am a bit confused about this post, you say they are a great company but you just posted a looking for another job in this post. All within 8 hours.

I apologize for the confusion. My roommate, of whom I met on the bus to training posted some things on my name. Did not realize the site kept me logged in... Newbie here. Anyway, he is leaving, maybe. But I have no intention of going anywhere. My phone acreen keeps scrolling but I will try to answer what I remember was asked. My tractor is a 2012, 170824 miles, $534 a week, last week surcharge was .457 + .02 for west coast, I was paid for 2732 loaded miles last week, but still avg the 2800. If I missed something, I will answer it when I get back on a PC, and post the sliding payscale.
Sorry for the grammer, or lack there of this phone is giving me problems.. -
I am also happy with Swift. Because I had a lot of experience, (i pulled a milk tanker for a decade), I stepped right into a dedicated account, ten minutes from my home and a drop yard with a mechanic and a kiosk is also ten minutes away.. I really like my dedicated customer. Off weekends, high mileage, great pay, no touch freight, great benefits and my unit is always parked in my yard!
I don't care what speed my truck goes, it's brand new! I don't care what name is on the side of the truck or trailer, I have 11 years driving experience and Swift fills all my needs. No one EVER calls me, I talk to no one but my customers, everything is electronic, checks are direct deposited into alloted accounts in the percentages I chose, I have a dashboard camera to cover my buttski and a great rider policy. Could not ask for a better situation. Maybe not the best company, in the opinion of others, I don't care about that either.
I have two boys 13 & 11, and I am home most nights and weeks. Nuff said.
