Don't blame you there. And thxs for the other info. And I wouldn't let them walk on you either file against them.

If that's all there is to the story you'be got a case, if there is more (and there typically is, even if you feel like you're telling the full story) the case may be more difficult. Either way you've got some work to do to get it squared away, you've gotten some good advice on here, but it's time to take it to someone who can do something with it. I'd start by contacting the company, go up the food chain to see what you can find out. If you still get the run around, and you probably will, contact the labor board or a lawyer.
volvodriver01 and Bob032361 Thank this. -
The company won't tell me whether they terminated me or not. Just had a cab waiting to take me to the bus terminal. Now I'm waiting on 2 checks and they keep giving me the run around. The one is supposedly "in the mail" and the other one is being "looked into" to see if should have those deductions for orientation/hotel.
This company is horrible, their people skills leave a lot to be desired and they don't give a crap about their employees!!!! -
I know the company I work for as a policy on accidents as to how much a driver will have to pay for and accident if its the drivers fault. Maybe they are still determineing if its a at fault or not. Believe me man I'm not trying to take their side I'm just stateing facts I know about P&S Transport in Alabama. And the rules and just thinking meybe there is some fine print over looked or not given out as need be. Good luck with this and wish you the best. Do a MVR on yourself and see if its even reported on there and then dipute it some way by attorney.
Bob032361 Thanks this. -

if so, send me a PMBob032361 Thanks this. -
Most truck companies "take back" any orientation/sign on bonus if you leave before 12 months.

It doesn't really matter whether what they did was legal or not. The real question is what will it cost you to get your money back if what they did wasn't legal. If its going to cost more than what you're owed to get your money back (and it usually does) then what's the point of pursuing it?

Trucking companies play these games all the time. Legally as a company driver they can't make you pay for stuff or take money back unless there is a pre-agreement signed. They can't coerce a driver in to paying something either like a company fine or truck damage after the fact. Pay it or you're fired type deal.
But it goes on everyday because many don't know what to do, fear losing their job, don't have proof or don't want to fool with a long drawn out hassle to recover the money. Unless you can afford an attorney which is probably more than the money it is like beating yourself in the head. You can go to your state's dept of labor wage and hour division and file an online complaint but you would be very lucky if you got anywhere. It doesn't hurt to try though. The state will send them a letter.
Did you sign an agreement in orientation? Can you physically prove your case?
They even play games with the termination to avoid paying unemployment. But them calling a cab to take you to the bus station pretty much says they terminated your employment. Again you couldn't prove it.
I wish I had all the money I've been suckered out of in the past.
