You need a new compressor. You should also look at the rest of the system, heat exchanger, etc. I had to have mine basically rebuilt except for the piping this summer and those trucks all have the exact same things go wrong with them.

how are you determining that you have NO POWER?????? just because the thing won't turn on??? or you actually tested the circuit with a test light?

there are all kindsa scenarios that come into play.

first thing i would do is find a gauge somewhere to see if you have freon in the system before saying you have no power. if the freon gets low the pump won't kick on. if you have less then 50 psi on the gauge. your low on freon. and the system won't kick on. although with trucks it could be 40 psi. the system should read close to 110 psi when it's off. that's a fully charged system.

it's preventive maintainance to check a healthy system every other year. freon gets weak and turns to air. it also escapes through the pores in the hoses. you can't just run it without ever checking. but there are also other factors. such as flat out leaks. everything breaks. and a/c components are no exception.

IF your system is fully charged, then test for power at the low pressure switch which is located on the low pressure line somewhere. it's the fatter line. and should have a blue cap on the charging fitting. the skinnier line is the high pressure line. and has a red cap on the charging valve.

This has been discussed here in more than thread. Do a search for a/c not working. Also search for "APADS" and see if your truck has one.
BTW, pete1, why do think he needs to replace the compressor if there is no power going it? Bad advice.
