so let me get this straight
you are willing to turn off a tool that could be helpful in many many ways, merely because a few knuckleheads dont know how to act?

I have found that I have probably used my CB more this week than the previous 26 weeks combined, mostly to warn other drivers of impending trouble. As little as I've used mine over the years (I hate just yakking on it...more of a distraction than anything...a personal choice), I'm finding that there just seem to be more instances of drivers getting ready to put themselves in a bind in one way or another. I'm not trying to save the world here, and I'm not going to bust my tail trying to bail some shlub out of a situation he shouldn't have put himself in to begin with. But it just seems that there are more instances lately where a CB could actually be helpful.

I turn my RF gain down to 1/2, and that way I can't hear anyone that's not within 1/2 mile of my truck.

Ditto......

Same here too.
I keep mine on, just at low volume. If I hear something potentially helpful, I'll crank up the volume and keep an ear out.
Otherwise, hearing some pud whistling randomly into the mic or going on a mental break-down rant, just makes me let out an "Ugh..." and reach for the Power knob...
As far as the light flashing bit, there's just too many ways to interpret that to expect a certain, universal response.
