Injun....I reread my posts and cant find anywhere that it says anything about what I want. I dont know anything about the trucking industry, and have live a very happy life without that knowledge. Im simply asking on my friends behalf. Thanks for your input. I do appreciate it.

Horse squeeze. Companies have all kinds of fleets with different hometime.

The only people that have to stay out 4-6 weeks are the ones who want to or were foolish enough to lease.Hell I saw two new terminals go up right in Tennessee designed as home weekly. People sure do get buffaloed into this 4-6 week crap.

    Girltrucker Thanks this.

Gotta agree with Tazz here. I've run full OTR, regional, and local with all different home time and made money just fine. Maybe you guys should stop wasting money on crap you don't need.

Chompi....thank you for your input on this question. BUT....in the first place, this is my significant other....not husband. There are no strings here. Secondly, this is NOT about what I want....I have my own income and my own schedule and life to keep. I was asking questions for him. If he wanted to stay out for 3 months or 3 years, it would be fine with me. He fell into a company that abuses its drivers because there are other drivers who will come up behind him and the company can abuse them in turn. In todays economy, companies can do that because of the numbers of other people waiting in line for that position. In the time he was with USA, there were many many drivers who quit because of the way they were treated. I understand that new workers are tested to see what they will take, and a new driver has, to some degree, to take it. But you have to draw a line and let them know that it works both ways. If you are happy staying out on the road then thats great. Not everyone wants to live out of the sleeper cab of a KW or International. I dont believe that being a truck driver precludes having a personal life that doesnt include truck stops, lot lizards, shippers and receivers. My uncle was OTR as a company driver for many many years and he was able to be home when he wanted to, made a good living, and didnt accept any crap from anyone. But this is Chris's gig and he can do what he wants with it.

Hope my 2 cents don't offend too many but there's plenty of information on USA
out there that turned me away from them. Sure, what works for some might not for another, bla bla bla, but there was no way I was going to start out a career with them
or several other money grubbing mills. Time will tell if I made a good choice but I did not make it based on only what the recruiter said. I don't expect everything I'd like, or everything they "guarantee" to happen and know I'll have to pay some serious dues the first year or two.
Better to see some of this coming in rather than after you get there.
Thanks again for all the time taken by the members of this forum in the passing of knowledge, advice and experiences. It has made a big difference in several decisions I have made in the last few months.

Injun....Ive stayed off this board for a while and came back to it tonite. I didnt take most of what you said the wrong way, but some I took umbrage to. No, he wasnt trying to hide income from me. He was a guy trying to make a few dollars. The beginning pay for a newbie is deplorable. I suppose its the companies way of trying to weed out the weak. Chris did not stay with this company. It didnt matter what he did, or didnt do....they nickle and dimed him every step of the way. The final straw was having to beg for home time. He put in his notice (and they told him there was no reason to wait out the two weeks). They told him where to park his truck and he did as they told him. Cleaned it out, and then cleaned it up....they got the truck back in better shape than they gave it to him. When he got his final pay check, it was, again in the negative. They told him that since he was only there, he was contractually obligated to reimburse them for training. He told them that it was ########, and that they violated their contract first, and if they wanted to play lawyers, he was ready. In the end, he walked away with a few bucks in his pocket, and now is happily driving for another company. Oh....and as the final insult, they tried to get him for abandoning his truck. That didnt fly either. QC downloads are wonderful.

Chompi...you may have never heard of a company putting home time in writing but it was there....in the same paragraph as the training reimbursement if you dont stay with the company for 6 months. My "husband" is still in the trucking industry...he drives otr for another company....one that so far has treated him well. Thanks for your input.
