It is amazing how this world of ours has been on the decline since the 60's and yet most people still don't know it.
Anyone who thinks their life is grand at $17 per hour has no idea what life is all about and probably has no dreams; at least none of consequence. So pardon me for trying to shed a little bit of light on the facts of life.
We live in a world that has been manipulated, controlled, managed and enslaved by the powers of many factions and people wonder why they can never get ahead in life! Those who get too powerful, become a threat and get put down if they pay respects to those who really maintain control.
Trucking? Anyone really think they have a chance for a grand life when there is no organization and demand on society? Yet, like Hoffa, they better understand who and what they are up against before they start to push. Who's the worst of them? They are all bad, but we do have choices and that is why some work for Swift, some for Schneider, and all the rest. But know one is getting rich in todays work circle. Slavery is what it is all about. Nothing more nor less.$17 per hour?????? In a $35 per hour world???? Who's kidding who?
-
Well said Lucky! So what do we do? And yes, they are all bad, it's the nature of this business.

Folks, Business is Business and that is how wealth is produced. You just need to figure out where yours is going to come from, or accept the life that is being provided and when I look at the financial situation of todays world it scares me. (History: Banking Institution (the FED) 1907 crash, 1920 Crash, 1929 Crash and all the wealth ripped off by some of the biggest shame jobs this country or the world has ever seen and it will happen again. In fact it is already happening, but to a lessor extent. (2007 Foreclosure and Bankruptcy stats.)
Business is the Business of a Capitalist world. Without the independence business offers and the opportunities, there is no freedom in our world because Capitalism is the basis for all Freedom. Everything else is Government supported Social programs to care for those the Government deems unable to care for themselves. In other words: welfare.
1. Our system is based upon Capitalism; not communism or socialism.
2. Capitalism means manufacturing, sales and marketing. Shipping to market is a medium in the process.
3. It does not matter if you are Independent business owner, or company employee, you will work for what you receive in life. As you Sew, so shall ye reap!
4. Those who are in business for them selves are the only ones who have a chance to become rich or even achieve the level of wealthy.
5. It does not matter what business you are in, you always need to look to where money is made. Sales and Marketing is the only place where real money exchanges hands or profits are shared to a much greater extent. All else is just working for slave labor wages.
Now, I don't want to get into specifics, but an explanation of what all this means will give anyone interested food for thought. Then it is up to those who want a better life to find someone to teach, and help to establish a means of profits.
A. Capitalism is the exchange of wealth for wealth and profit. Spend to earn.
B. Business is the provision of goods and services to a consumer market
C. Marketing is the many means of letting potential customers know you have products or services for sale.
People spend thousands of dollars for Marketing Degrees, and yet most people stick their noses up at the only profession where real profits can be made.
In the profit share world, you earn straight commission for building customer bases for your adopted company.
There are rules to follow when searching for a money trail. In other words some companies are far better than others based upon Marketing potential.
So, if you manufacture products in your garage to sell, you must find someone to market and sell your merchandise, or you find a company that allows you to profit through a profit share commission based pay plan. That is, if you want the opportunity to earn real incomes.
Otherwise, as I said, you have to organize the trucking industry and that means the Unions must get serious again; if they are allowed to do so by the powers. But, if you do nothing, you get nothing more than the same old garbage. Likewise, your potential income is based on your personal limitations. (Time / Log Books / Rates / Expenses)
I can give a list of things to research to anyone who may have an interest. Plus a couple of movies everyone should see, that can be viewed right on the internet. However, I would like to know that people are really interested in change before I spend time trying to help people.
There are no guarantees in life but there are plenty of opportunities to do many things. None of which can be accomplished on this forum. However, for those willing to listen, research and learn, it does not take long to gain the knowledge necessary. Four years degrees are not necessary, but listening to a college professor who teaches at a major University can shed a lot of light on the subject.
Now, since those reading this are probably drivers (for the most part), there is not much you can do on the side because of your schedules, but there are some great things still available and information people need.
Anyway, you asked and I am always available to help those who want help.
In the mean time, everyone should be stopping in at the local Teamsters when they are home and speaking with them. A basket can hold a variety of opportunities and multiple baskets only add to protection.
Common sense rules. -
Why? Because I can set you or anyone else straight that has an open mind and some common sense. As for the rest, I would not waste my time, and I think after 45 years of work experience and living as well as my education, that qualifies me to be somewhat of an expert; don't you? -
That was so frighteningly Corporate...............................Are you one of my supervisors? Nah, my managers aren't THAT #### smart.
Marketing is the category that JB Hunt has me in. Which means that i'm supposed to be "Marketing" a job at a potential driver (customer) and to get as many as possible to get the commission. Therein lies the problem I have with recruiting. I don't believe in "Selling a job". That is wrong in my opinion, yet I see it every day in that office. Blowing a job out of proportion to make it sound too good to be true is not right, considering we are talking about, more or less, messing with a person (or family's) livelihood.....But it's ok...only 29 Days until Vindication....29 Days until I get moving for Van Buren to go to somewhere else to learn how to drive a CHOO CHOO!!! *Pulls the Horn!* -
Been reading these post for awhile now, kinda interesting.
fairly new to the truck world, ran dump 5 yrs. 18wheel 6mo.
i've run 40-states, NE ded. (van/reefer/scateboard/pups.
my personel experiance, well its been intersting.
Went to swift school, didn't drive for them, to me school was ok, nuttin great, but ok.
drove for CRST van div. otr. not bad, just couldn't get comfi in a moving trk, while sleepin. may have been the rumble strips??
then drove for dmbowman, was ok, lot of wasted time running back to buy his fuel all the time, but got to be to far for me to get to the trk.(3hrs) .
Then went to work for schneider? the big orange pumkin turned out to be, kinda what i read on here about jbhunt? Lets just say i'm 46yrs yung, pretty quiet person, love to run trks, plan my trips to get the most bank for the buck. have/had 100% p/u & del. zero problems at the docks, loved to shoot the #### when i could, Then came the old schneider lies, they preached safety, but make sure you run illeagal so i can get one more P&G load on you tonight. NO!! no way mr. dbl, ain't runnin ilegal for ya. then came the sittin, then came the run by the OC we need to talk, then came the clean the trk out, i don't need u on my team. so while i don;t know alot about, swift, and jbhunt asked me to drive for them, but not going to, after reading forums here, i would rate schneider as just another jbhunt company.
because of this exsperience, i no longer seek the thrill of the 18wheels, looked for local, home daily work, but just can't find any?? went thru the yellow pages and all. unless i'm lookin in the wrong spots?? So i've turned to seeking employment with the big brown box, and other delv. stuff.
well nuff said, love to read the comments in the forum, be safe to all.... -
Remember, 2008 is a major election year. My guess is the powers that be will prop up the economy a little longer and prevent a recession for one more year. At least they will keep propping until the day after the first Tuesday in November '08. After that, all hell will come. But not until then. Even if it comes, it won't be quite as bad as it could be, being as the dollar is tanking in value. Sure, imports are more expensive when the dollar tanks, but US exports look more attractive in foreign markets, as foreign buyers of American-made goods can get more for their 'buck'. Increasing exports to foreign lands may make a recession milder.

Sales is what makes capitalism happen. Marketing is the method of advertising; i.e. news papers, radio, magazines, TV, or the most powerful method-word of mouth.
The fact that all businesses that have products or services that must be sold opens the doors to entrepreneurs that are open minded enough to realize that their world lies in their own hands. In other words, the sky is the limit as to what a person with ambition and a little knowledge can provide. That means, futures can be paid for in cash rather than taxation or on credit.
There is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to marketing or recruiting. It is simply Capitalism working within the system that it is supposed to support.
Your other choices:
Communism - No dreams allowed as all deemed necessary is provided by government.
Socialism-The taxation of dreams until dreams are no longer reality.
Capitalism is the Garden of Dreams, so keep recruiting and earn, I said EARN your bonuses.
Consider, people pay thousands of dollars for a Degree in Marketing and yet most people turn up their noses at the most powerful means of earning a living.
However, in closing, a person who works within the Business arena must be satisfied they are doing the best they can do or are supporting what they believe in. If you do not believe in the arena you work in, then you can take your skill to another arena where TRUTH, HONESTY, TRUST are key to a companies future.
Recruiting in the Trucking industry when the industry does not support wealth is not a place where you find the best attributes of the Marketing industry. Frankly, I could not do it. Yet, I love trucking. I miss it. But I would never come back.
