All of the national LTLs and the upper-midwest regional LTL companies are there because it's a huge market. What part of chicagoland do you live in? ABF, Fedex and YRC all have huge terminals in Chicago Heights. Holland has a big terminal in Joliet. Dayton Freight and Old Dominion has terminals in Des Plaines. Conway has big terminals in Desplaines and Aurora. All of these companies have smaller terminals all over Chicagoland, but you're more likely to stay busy if you work at one of the bigger terminals... To many to list them all..

What city do you live in and do you have a union/non-union preference?

Old Dominion has a terminal at 5500 West 47th Street. They used to have a sign up for city drivers, but thats been a long time ago, and I don't know if they take students.

CDN, I believe is Custom, They defiantly dont make $40 hr. UPS, and some rail container lift guys make that, but usually the LTL, are $20 - $27hrly. It may vary in Chicago, You can make some good MUNEY in the city.

I used to deliver to an R&L carriers but they were a little south of Chicago. Think it was still considered Chicago though.

I'm under 21 years of age. Those companies required you to be 21.

Dayton Freight has two terminals in Chicago. I have been working for Dayton Freight for 9 years and am very happy here. The pay and benefits are above average. A line-haul driver can make $70,000 + after topping out on pay. (2 years). This is a non union company with pay and benefits to compare with union LTL carriers.

How much is their pay in Ohio? Chicago always pays more.
