50 mph average is for Schneider, J. B. Hunt drivers...! LOL
You run 50 mph with Heartland, you won't last their long...!
Only way your truck will run that slow, is if you idled into the penalty that cut your travel speed.
Heartland's C.S.A. scores allow them to run 64 mph average 60 on the logs, and then some if needed.
Never had a problem with logs vs. average speed while I was there.

My competent driver manager got promoted. I would call and get him in 1-2 minutes. The string of nincompoops I had after him had a minimum 10 minute wait time. I know the labor market in North Liberty isn't huge but holy cow. Some of those Driver Managers have the integrity of a used car salesman, the work ethic of pot smoking teenage pizza delivery boy and the critical thinking skills of a pot smoking teenage pizza delivery boy. (Apologies to pizza deliverers in North Liberty if you feel slandered by the comparison.

When you calm down from your anger, maybe you can answer my question..?
Did you call in and tell your fleet manager about the unloading of the trailer, and keep him updated on the progress with the unloading ?
Your point for contact is your fleet manager driver, not the customer.
Once they tell you their plan for unloading, and it sounds like that was going to be excessive with your time...?
I'd told them "I better contact my fleet manager and let them know about this".

Getting angry only hurts you, with your health side of this... lol
Communicate, communicate, once the call with the latest progress on the unloading has been passed, your delay pay will be added into your trip, it was that way when I was there.
But if you come off as a "hot head" who looses his cool, you'll not get anything resolved like that driver.

Stop telling them how to run the operation, and be the driver that gets paid...?
The more you come off like that, the less you'll see in revenue dollars...!

    Hammerup Thanks this.

Everyone has to start somewhere driver, and just like you, 2 years ago you started driving truck, and you didn't know EVERYTHING..! LOL
You may think you did, but we all know better you didn't.
What you fail to remember is, your not the only "driver somebody" that a manager is suppose to remember when you call in to get your situation resolved.
Communication is key, and it helps a new person become comfortable in their new position.
Patience you have forgotten that people were patience with you when you started training to drive truck when you didn't get things right on the first shot..?
Did you keep the trailer straight through the exercise on straight backing the first time you did it..? LOL

I'm not taking up for these new people in the operation, but you description of North Liberty, is not good, when you should take a look at your own "back yard"...?
You'll be reremembered as the complainer, with no patiences who thinks when he calls everything stops for you....!

"Communication is key, and it helps a new person become comfortable in their new position"

Aphoristic pabulum - A nonsensical statement held out to be wise truth.
Example: "Communication is key, and it helps a new person become comfortable in their position"
Truth: Competence is key, and is only achieved through effective training.

Jay, the fleet manager, once suggested I needed to "communicate" with a nincompoop DM who scheduled me so that I was two hours and a 10 hour break outside of home when my hometime clock had already started (had a load scheduled coming out). My 36 hour break just became 24 hours. Like I told him, "I don't need to know that he likes Britney Spears records and the name of his cat, I need him to do simple math before committing me to loads. I need him to be competent at what he does. Us #### chatting won't help that".

I do love how, by suggesting that we "communicate" with a DM after their screw ups, they imply that it's somehow our fault anyway. If only we had communicated with them we could have kept them from being stupid.

Keep the conversation. Just do your job kid.

Jaebro is full of obvious advice and trying to sound smarter than he really is. Fleet manager was updated in the am when he returned to work, since that happened over night. Don't ever tell me you never get angry. Everyone gets angry time to time. I wrote I was angry at something else and that was the icing on the cake......(hence just having a bad day). If I was only as good as super trucker jaebro I would be just like him and never have a bad day or never ever get angry. Lol the other thing is I am more professional than what your trying to make it seem. I'm not sure where your getting (coming across as a hot head from). Never showed the costumer that I was angry and never said I did. If your going to comment on what I write out here get your facts str8.

I know you werent asking me but I'll add my 2cents anyways.

I ran everything east of the rockies, didn't go into the rocky mountains.

Hometime was promised every other weekend but got average of 12-24 hours 1x per month.

They'll usually have excuse that there is no freight going towards home (No high value freight, as they only take expensive high value stuff which was the problem).

How is it that being in NJ they didn't have ANY freight going west to get me home 1 day away? Lame excuses.

Put up with the home time cause the paychecks were big. Only reason to even work for them honestly in the money, if you can handle the rest

If you live in Falconer and want to get home a few times per month then go to Columbus region not Carlisle.
That is what I did. I am on dedicated now, home every weekend. I like to have the time, especially in the summer to go riding. I was tired of living in a truck and having my job be my life.
The pay is lower for Columbus region, but the miles are normally higher, and the home time is better.
Most people from this area do not last on Carlisle regional. They do ok on system or Columbus.
