I'll tell you one thing though.

I have had so much fun watching the rookies and morons trying to back into spots here all day. Once I even had to move my truck because a TMC driver almost hit me. :biggrin_25513:

I actually forgot how fun it was to sit in the truckstop lot and watch the goings on..

Hey guys easy on the newbee jokes! Everyone starts somewhere right? Seriously though, I had my first experience with Donners Pass and chains yesterday. I was pretty surprised that there were as many experienced drivers asking for help with chains as there was. I had a leg up I guess, growing up in northern MN. Waiting this out in a Wally World parking lot with a bunch of other trucks. They closed I80 at exit 104, an accident shut it down. Good luck to all!

Now don't go getting your panties in a twist over a joke....

I mean come on. I was a rookie once as well. But see, when you get a few years under your belt.. You can then look back and laugh at the rookie mistakes and brain farts too. It just comes naturally. I'm not singling any particular person out here, just having a little fun. Heck, if I didn't, I'd be in "Te Ha Ha Hut" By now Mon...:biggrin_25525::biggrin_25523::biggrin_2556:

hey KC, no problems here! Its actually nice to know that other new guys have some troubles too. Makes it a little easier to step out on my own soon. I can't wait for the day I can look at other newbees and laugh too!

U ever drive in the oil field?? Standard practice when the mud gets bad. All four drives and one steer so that you can steer. Other wise fergitaboutit.
I'd chain a steer on bad ice if I had to.

Donner is a cluster when its chain up time. I did that once so I could get out of CA. The supposed "PRO chainers" that charge those too lazy to chain are slow and make a lot of money for what they do. I could chain two trucks to their one, and I'm a "recreational chainer".
