Stay away from a lease unless you don't need to ever see your house or family. You can make good money with a lease, but the truck needs to stay rolling. I'm not talking out of my ear, I did the lease thing and completed it at CRE and am VERY HAPPY as a company driver now!

Well, looks like I found a new place to drop my trailer once I get back on the road, I assume a firehouse is considered a safe place, of course I just hope they don't do like a company did on Long Island a few years back and cut it up during training.

Good luck, I don't know, but I can't imagine there is much out there. I wouldn't bother waiting for openings just start sending out your resume cold. It's worked for me in the past.

So on Monday I'm going to pick up more work at a trucking company right here in my home town. I'll still keep the nights and weekends on call for the other place. The new place wont require me to go to the office either, but it's a mile away and they're cool if I bring the kids.

I had my office orientation yesterday and today at noon I go out on a 12 hour route with the safety manager. So far the job seems pretty easy. I get a dispatch from one of the four grocery warehouses around Denver and go to the warehouse and get the load. Then I have one to three grocery stores to deliver to and return to the warehouse I started at to drop the empty trailer. At the stores I just bump the dock and the store employees have 1/2 hour to get me unloaded and then I'm off rolling again. I have the option to help unload if I want to make it go faster. Also, the unloading is all with the power mule. Hmmm, they are saying my shift will probably be starting at 0330 in the morning and I'll have Wednesday and Thursday off. That's until October when all the drivers bid on routes and days off by seniority. I better go get my driving stuff together and head over to the warehouse.
