after my break down escapades this last two weeks I am wavering on my resolve to keep my older truck on the road.
i found this truck...
http://www.pac-truck.com/product.aspx?ID=1379
it is a 2005 columbia with Series 60, i have been searching internet for more info about problems to be expected with this yr/engine combo. best i come up with is the engine is good til 700k miles then the possibility of bullgear, acc drive bearings, a/c compressor, etc. tend to go out. i have also learned if taken care of properly this motor will last until 1mil. constructive input would be appreciated, thx.
also, anyone have any dealings with Pacific Truck?
edit: forgot to say what trailer i pull; 48' flat
time to let go of older truck?

my neighbor just asked me to buy his maybe 2 months ago 05' columbia, it was under warrenty when he got it. had everything go bad on it. it was all covered, I mean everything & more than once. from turbo, dropped a valve, twice, e.g.r. total rebuild of engine, anyway he asked $18,000 for it. gone now, but he said nothing but problems,
joecitizen Thanks this. -
What truck do you have now?
-
That prices seems high to me. $20-30k seems normal for a truck that year with that mileage. Keep looking. Pick up a truck paper.

I have a 2005 Century with 60 series detroit. replaced egr twice, and the 3rd time I bought a kit that just shut egr off. Replaced #1 injector twice 1st time was under warranty. 925000 miles and running great now. I go 20000 on oil changes and never hafe to add a drop inbetween. If you get it and have egr problems go to egrtuner.com.

maybe it is just part of "trucking" but man it has been one thing after another and this latest go around has gotten me a tad worn down about the truck.
anyways, more than likely keep plugging away with it, thx for the honest input. -
My experience is dump the money in the old truck. That 350E is a good motor. Should be uprateable with some iron changes. Should get good mileage if driven properly and has no egr valve anywhere near it and good luck finding the urea tank on that 93. Most people I talk to say invest your money in rebuilding your old equipment not in buying equipment that will be even more unreliable than old faithful. Warranty or not if the wheels don't turn there is no money in return.
