abtrucker Thanks this. -
Ohhh man...people need to shop around more! I guess ya really pay if ya want it that convenient though. I got my origional roper 4" and install with direct drive PTO and Roda valve for $7000 and then 3 months later I bought the T&E 4.5" I got in there now for $4200. So for complete install and 2 pumps I blew $11200 and now I have a backup pump if my T&E needs to get sent away for a rebuild...the install was done at MG Mechanical in Redcliff, AB.

PTO drive is the cheapest set up and sara said "Including the Chelsea pump" suggesting that it's a hydraulic setup. Hydro rigging can easily cost double that of a PTO drive. $4200 is a good price (new retail is $5000) for a 4.5" T&E depending on how many hours are on it.

I've searched T&E on kijiji and there are complete hydraulic rig ups going for 5-10k. But buyer beware, if that t&e is wore out, expect a rebuild and if a shop is being used, they will take that pallet of parts and start assembling, the warranty on leaks and parts will probably be 50' or 1 minute.

What are some of the benefits of running a hydraulic setup over straight PTO?

abtrucker Thanks this.

Are most of the fluid hauling O/O paid on a percentage? Is there a ballpark on the amount of revenue with one truck\one driver?

I get hourly, would rather not discuss amounts, but you can do alright if you look after your equipment

I've ran shafts for 15 years, and this year made the leap into hyrdraulic set ups for my units. So far the perfomance has been awesome, had a blast of true winter weather last weekend, and they worked flawless. The ability to ease into it when your standing right there is nice, compared to having the drivers door open, foot covered in wet snow on clutch pedal, trying to ease into it, only to hear the 'ting' of the shear bolt breaking and getting out the ratchet, bolt/nut and wrench and crawl under LOL
The one issue I was warned about was when it gets really cold was the hydraulic oil getting to stiff and blowing the seal out on the oil filter. The fix I was told was, rather than put the arctic hydraulic oil in, was to remove 2 litres of oil and put 2 litres of kerosene in.
Then in spring, dump oil and refill with the all season Hydrex XV is what my supplier told me to do.
So far its been a good system... ask me in a year once the honeymoon is overabtrucker and rainyday lover Thank this.
