Hello everyone! Been awhile since I've been on but wanted to finally post. Glad to see everyone doing well
I finally threw in the towel and turned my truck in yesterday. Started to post about all the drama surrounding it but I'll just say calling the right people higher on the chain does yield results
Im currently at orientation for fright systems. So really I just transferred over to a contractor. They are located 2 exits from my house in N. Little Rock and I should get to see my house a heck of a lot more now plus no more sliding scale paying me an average of 24 cents a mile so I'm loving life now lol!

Just approved for USX orientation in Colton CA. Been working for independent companies for the last year fighting with worn out trucks and shady bosses not paying layover pay, keeping my detention pay, no benefits and plain old paying my dues as a first year rookie driver. Looking forward to working with a larger, reputable company with benefits and good equipment.

Good for you DaReallyst!! I'm glad to see things are looking up for you.
I'm currently home just for overnight. Have to go out tomorrow and drive about 50 miles to Bentonville, AR and then back home and wait for my next load which will leave out either Sat or Sun with a 2 stopper and final delivery in Green Bay on Monday evening. (hoping I can leave Sun so then I'll get in a 34...LOL)DaReallyst Thanks this. -
Thanks Musicgal
be safe out there!

If I skip my fuel stop, dinner and shower I could get to my destination 17 hours after I started my day with 5 hours to fake a 10 hour break before my 4AM unload. Anyone have a time machine I can borrow?

we do but you will need to stop at laredo to use it
MiFamilyGuy and Wedge Thank this. -

Oh you know, truck driving is what it is. You have certainely been doing it long enough now to know what I mean. I like your new ride and I hope that works out good for you guys. I'm sure it will. Learn everything you can about the contractor angle because I'll be picking your brain for info soon enough!
We've been running ok for the last few weeks, but as always, it could be better. That last 3 weeks we've been getting ok miles consitantly, around 5500, but we just can't seen to get things to come together to get that one extra load in before payday.
Even with the decent miles, it sure seems like we've been sitting around a lot ever since we left the house about 3 weeks ago. At one point we both logged 2 un-needed 34 hour resets withing 10 days and still had 5500-6000 miles both of those weeks. Oh well, it is what it is.
I had a little "heart to heart" with our FM last week about this and I pointed out that someone needed to figure out what's wrong with this picture and keep us moving and things seem to be coming together a little better. We are currently getting loaded in Dunkirk, NY and heading to Walla Walla, WA delivering on Monday and we already have a pre-assignment for Monday out of Othello, WA going to Sidney, OH with a Wednesday delivery. If were lucky that will set us up to get a load on before the holiday and just keep running, if not, we'll find somewhere to treat ourselves to a nice Thanksgiving feast.
We had plans to go to my dad's house in Florida for Thanksgiving, but our boss "poo-pooed" on that idea so we just decided to stay out until after Christmas. We like being with our families for the holidays as much as the next guy, but every time we've been home lately it just seems like there is so much running around to do to make everyone else happy that by the time our hometime is over we can't get out of there fast enough. We are kind of looking forward to finding a way to celebrate out here on our own without all that added stress. We had a "Hallo-Giving-Mas" dinner before we left last time, so they'll get over it and we'll see them for New Year's!Silverton Thanks this. -
I guess that is one of the advantages of having friends and family scattered all over the country. We pick who we are going to visit and we get to spend quality time with them and we also get some much needed down time. We spent Thanksgiving at the counter of the Denny's in Rock Springs Wyoming last year. Turkey and Football. Not the best Thanksgiving ever but I was with my best friend.
