I'm about to get my CDL and I'm wondering if anyone can offer me advice on local companies. I've been looking at Shenandoah and Appalachian mostly, but also the big companies like Schneider and Werner. Any reviews, good or bad, will be welcome.

Can't recommend any myself but I'll give your thread a bump since Virginia got mentioned in possible places to live between me and the Mrs tonight! Might need this thread in the next year or so, lol

    Lol, thanks Frost.
A few other companies I'm looking at are Estes, Houff, and Beam Brothers.

Ok, I'm gonna keep throwing names out until somebody bites! How about Dillion Transport or Southeastern Freight Lines?

I heard Estes is pretty good. Don't know what their requirements are but they're on my short list to look into when I get my year in OTR.

Thanks, good to know. You might want to add Van Wyke to your list, as I've been hearing good things about them lately. Hey, out of curiosity, who are you doing your OTR with?

Central Refrigerated out of Utah. First couple of months were rough, but they paid for the school and I haven't lost my house yet! Lol. Been solo since July. Getting more miles every week. I still love it, but starting at the bottom when you're use to being in charge is more than difficult some days.

    Houff requires experience.
