I have the unlimited data with Verizon but if I upgrade phones, lose the unlimited data. I use over 2 Gb every month. Really hesitant about switching to T-Mobile cause of the coverage issues. What other options do I have so I can still watch tv, listen to music/radio, etc?
In limbo

Golly if you only use 2GB you are doing great. I recently went to the shared plan between my husbands computer (he barely uses GB), my computer and the 3 phones on our shared plan) with 10 GB so I would quit running out before the end of month with AT & T, it was an upgrade too because of my plan being out (but on theirs unlimited did not mean unlimited and I was getting charged around $50.00 for going over).
As far as service we did good with AT & T, just no plans that are cheap if you are planning on watching TV and a lot of youtube videos which sucks.
Can you buy a phone outright and use it without upgrading, of course if it's like AT & T they'll find some other way to charge you extra.graywolf747 Thanks this. -
I have T-mobile un limited and dont have many issues with coverage unless in Canada. I bought a Verizon throwaway phone to solve the Canada problem and its nice to have a backup phone just in case I have no coverage. BTW I travel everywhere Lower 48, Canada (Even Nova Scotia), Alaska. There are lots of places with just no coverage at all, no matter who you have

If you're only using 2 gb per month, don't worry about it. Set yourself up with an amount above that, and do the upgrade on the phone.

Leave the large carrier and go to Boost Mobile. You can do all that with $50/month.

Suck it up and pay the monthly data plan rate whatever it is. They are reasonable IMO and they don't gouge for overage (at least ATT doesn't .. additional gigs are at the same rate per gig as the base rate and I assume Verizon is the same) I recommend sticking with Verizon and go with an LTE device that has internet sharing (hotspot) built in.

Are you sure about that? The phones are usually separate from the plans. I have the grandfathered unlimited AT&T data, and I've changed phones three times.

What phone do you use now? A basic phone or a smart phone, and does it have hotspot built in?
If you use a smart phone already, with hotspot, but just want a newer device, I would recommend buying a tablet such as Nexus 7 our iPad Mini. I have been using a smartphone with hotspot for the past couple months with hotspot for my laptop. I recently bought a Nexus 7 and hardly use my phone for media and web now.
If you usea basic phone, I would suggest letting the "unlimited data" go and geta smart phone. -
That's what we thought too but the lady I talked with specifically said we would lose the unlimited data. Will probably go to a Verizon store and speak to someone face-to-face.

Thought about that on the way home tonite. Will do some checking. Thanks!
