    Good evening,
Was googling and came across your site. Checked out a few topics, threads etc since I was searching for some answers. Anyways,.. A little about me. I have not driven a semi in about 2 yrs. The 11 yrs prior to that I drove OTR. My recent 7yrs of that time frame I was a parking lot and the prior 4yrs to that I pulled a 53' box. I have recorded about 1.3m miles. Had a few tickets when I first started out hauling auto's. Never caused a accident, but I've been ran into once while parked at a truck stop, and once while traveling through a little town in Ohio (someone's grandpa made a left turn into me.)

What caused me to sell off my truck, trailer, contracts and close up shop (since I was a o/o w/ own authority). When we found out we were going to have a baby. I didn't want to be another driver out on the road that missed the opportunity to watch his child grow up. I didn't want to miss anything at all. So I put trucking behind me for her. The money was great don't get me wrong, but sometimes some things are more important than money.

Now, even though I dropped the CDL and went back to a normal/regular license about 12 months or so ago. I'm finding myself searching to re-acquire my CDL. Maybe not a Class A, but maybe a Class B or something. Only because I am great at driving. I've tried real estate, I've tried being a yard jockey, but these things just don't seem to fit with my blood type. Maybe I'll shoot for being a limo driver or something more along those lines since I do live in a area that is warm year round. But we'll see.

Anyways, I look forward to chatting with some of ya on here :)

lol I drive a Taxi now. Its ok, it works, but sometimes chasing fares is 10x worse then trying to find a load if driving a semi. If I was in NYC or LA it would probally be easier. I think I'm just to use to setting appointments and maintaining a schedule rather then being a cabbie and going with the flow persay. Plus I have some kind of inner child issue that prefers to be a independent contractor. :)

Whatever works, right? You're in a warm climate? My wife & I are seriously considering moving to Las Vegas; warm climate & cheap homes. Have been looking at condo's there on internet; real cheap prices and still dropping. One on Dean Martin Blvd. really looks good. My CDL expires in 2013 & just as you, will not renew. Take care & best wishes.

Yeah, I'm around the Phoenix Az area. I like it here. Out of all the places I visted during my 11 yrs of OTR driving. I found this place to be more similar to what I like. It may or not be what everyone likes. But I do enjoy it. Winters are around the 70 - 80 degree mark. I can choose if I wish to see snow by taking a little couple hour drive. Downside is I like to have grass in my yard. And sometimes the summers are a lil to hot to keep the grass green. Its all a give and take.

As for Vegas, it can be a fun town, fun place to live. Real Estate market there from what I understand is pretty limited on bank owned homes. A lot of short sales are currently on the market along with regular sales. If its anything like Phoenix, you may be competing with cash buyers 80% + of the time when you make a offer. So just make sure that if this is the case, that you ask for as little in concessions as possible, maybe even ask your realtor if they can put a escalation clause into your offer for you. To help you win over some of the mutliple offer senario's. Out here in the west its not uncommon for a home to have 12+ offers on it, "if its priced right" once it hits the market. And that is the key phrase. Many may try to tell ya its a hot market. And it actually may be, but if the home isn't priced right, its not going to sell and don't let anyone tell you anything differently. Make sure comps are pulled to prove the price on EVERYTHING that your thinking about making a offer on. And have it proved on paper. Don't just take the person's word for it. Also, make sure you see the high and low side. Some are good for just tossing you a random average number.

Hope this helps ya in some way. Thanks for the chat's & have a great day :)
