To much time wasted waiting for live loads with reefers. I switched to a company that ships mostly dry box only and i will not go back. With dry box you get a lot more drop and hook loads.
Need some honest opinions here..

Reefers are better than dry vans because, ...
um..
I'll have to get back to you on that. :smt017 -
As a company driver I made between $50K & $55K per year with refrigerated OTR. With dry van OTR I was lucky to make $40K; maybe some companies could do better, but I didn't see one. I guess it just depends on what you're willing to settle for. My pay went up another $10K when I switched to tanker/hazmat OTR.

Sad part about those drop and hook dry van companies. I always hear how you can never find a trailer. Just something about rolling down the highway with those shiney hiney trailer doors.

Be careful,
to alot of new folks,
that term Shiney Hiney seems to have a new/different meaning !!!

I'm in the process of going through school and made research several companies , my choice is Maverick. I actually have gone to several truck stops and spoke with several drivers 80% of them were very helpful. With Marverick the hardest thing is getting accepted accrding to the drivers I spoke to. Good luck.

Well US Xpress called today. Forced teams after training for a minimum of 8 weeks and no guarantee of being solo. I think I'll pass on that.

Try Werner. They are a far shot from great, but they will give you the necessary training and that ever-so-critical first year's experience that will open doors to better opportunities. Go dedicated as quick as you can with Werner and stick it out for 12 months.
