I don't know how long ago this tradition has stopped but I haven't seen it around in years.
1. Bear Reports. You shouldn't be speeding in the first place. Most places let you go 5 over and the speed limits are usually 70 mph anyway. If you drive 70 you are making constant lane changes and Today in Texas where its 75 these trucks were driving like crazy. I'll have no part in helping some clown break the law.
2. Cb's have always been crazy. Mine is off or actually on but turned all the way down. If you watch traffic ahead of you. You can spot back ups before you get to them, and normally even if you have it on. Nobody says nothing till you are stuck in the back up to begin with.
3. No one stops to help anyone because we have satellites and cell phones. I'm sure if somebody needed help they would be flagging down somebody. I was broke down the other day and truck drivers think its too much work getting in the other lane even when nobody is around them.
I don't blame technology I blame laziness. Nothing stays the same just ask my hairline. Have a great day my friend.![]()

Many of the 'old hand' drivers are worse than the ignorant, new ones. don't give me the 'tradition' crap.
Bear reports? You're not likely to get a ticket unless you are sufficiently over the speed limit, and deserve one. Stop your whining.
I can't tell you how many times I have been cruising along, at or somewhat above the speed limit, and had some high speed ignorant cowboy jump in ahead of me, stand on his brakes, and try to act innocent...when somebody on the radio mentions a bear or he thinks he sees on.
It's like those JERKS who do not have the patience to stay in the right lane going through the gorge on I-40 at the NC/TN line. Not enough patience to stick behind a slower truck for 20 minutes, as is legally required. They jump out, balls to the wall, and dive in ahead of you without warned, stand on the brakes and try to look innocent.
I love to see them pulled over.Dinomite Thanks this. -
they are looking for men of your mindset -
Helping others stopped on the side of the road ... that wasn't a truck driver exclusive. 50 years ago anyone might stop to help anyone else ... now days, any assistance rendered is likely to only result in you being a party to the invitable law suit.
CB, as soon as they were invented the idiots showed up.
Bear reports, see CB ... besides I have no need to be driving so fast as to attract the cops attention, don't need nor want a "bear report" ... -
because YOU dont see a need for bear reports, doesnt mean everyone else doesnt
because YOU YOU YOU
herein is the problem, everyone is only focused on themselves is the problem -

Also how annoying was hearing the guy every 10 mins ask for a bear report. What about the guy who wrote down every bear he seen 300 miles ago. Like the bear is still going to be there. Real chicken haulers had bird dogs
-
what is perplexing here is that if you guys dont want to hear bear reports, if you dont want to know what the chicken house is doing, if you dont listen to the cb, whats with all the hating about those that do?
turn it off, leave it off, then those who care about those things wont bother you so much
you can continue to listen to your xm radio and be happy -
My company has Pre pass, E logs, and decent equipment. So I very seldom ever go in a scale except for days like today when I'm View attachment 39112 . I don't listen to Xm either. Once upon at time I did, but always had trouble with dang antenna not getting service or breaking. They don't bother me except when I'm in a back up and they have to keep asking silly questions like. What's the HOLD UP!! Or they get overly excited about some woman with shorts on. Smh some folks never grow up

you now drive a castrated truck with daddy telling you when to drive, when to sleep, not every driver has been beaten down, driving a truck that wont do the speed limit, having a squawkbox dictating and monitoring your every move to the point where you yourself become a docile man, and look at those who havent thrown in the towel as some type rebel and outlawCowmobile and Jake The Bullhauler Thank this.
