if you want to save money i would look for a older model without the egr system like around the 2000 model year and many already have done inframe with warranty ! All for the same money your looking at now.

I was buying my columbia 07,for 3 year(11/2009)with 470k with warranty from a freightlinerdealer for 35k,now i have 817k,iam very happy with my truck with my mpg(cat-c-13-mr.haneytuning)and i spend lees then 9000$ for all my repairs(radiator,headgasket,1turbo,airdryer,alternator,clutch,shocks)in 3 years.for me the columbia is a good deal,yo find better looking trucks with a better quality, only for this money is the columbia a very good truck, for me ,my truck is to make money nothing more
losttrucker Thanks this. -
you will read alot of opinions, some of them think they are so much smarter then the rest.I purchased a 07 a yr ago for 38,000.used trucks are pretty pricey due to the engine mods on the newer trucks.Sounds like you are getting a good deal..good luck

Thank you everyone for the input! My main concern is the 10 speed, a friend of mine who has a trucking business is telling me to get 13 speed for long hauls?

If it is a former lease truck, dont be suprised if the records that state that this and that has been done over its life have NOT been done. Most have been on breakdown maintenance for years. IOW run it till it breaks, then do something. Often then it will be patched because they think, "its coming off lease and going to the sale lot anyway" Just do a complete inspection for your self.

10 speed has less things to go wrong. Use synthetic gear oil and keep it filled, keep cooler clean,(if equipped) watch for leaks and definatly keep air system clean and dry. Some very good advice here about using it to make money and the emission junk costing a lot to keep up. Chrome and polish dont make money, it cost money and time.

I may have an 18 speed in my ride, but there is nothing wrong with a 10 speed in a typical fleet spec'd truck for OTR work. Thousand and thousands of them on the road, so they must work. As long as there is no major issue with the emissions stuff, it should be a good truck to start out with.

sounds like a good deal. truck prices are on the rise again. you can shop around some and save alittle. auctions go cheaper but you dont know what you are getting really. its not like you can take it for a ride. Look it over really good. Ask to see the records. if everything was done by the company that owned it ie all oil changes than i might think it was paper whipped alittle meaning if they show oil was changed every 15 than it may have been when they got to it. Not always the case but if i dont see maintance on the road than seems alittle off for an OTR truck

Not a bad price. Make sure the warranty covers the injectors, turbo and water pump....sometimes that is an additional surcharge.
