Fedex just sucks in general... Been doing a lot of tree cutting and getting good with the saw. Starting to calm down now here, but now we got a guy who starts this week from the dock... Im pretty sure I will be layed off again soon. Got 3 still out, the night switcher when he gets back from his military leave, one guy whos coming back in jan and another guy who was fired who they are going to bring back... its gotten ridiculous as we dont even have enough trucks

Running teams and gone for a week. Other than that it's not much different. Well I'm making twice as much as I was as I was at Reddaway, actually more than that. I just don't want to run teams anymore. Burned out from it. That's the main reason I went to Reddaway. Being gone a week is actually a nice change and I prefer it. Other than that I still pull pups and go terminal to terminal all drop and hook.

ACH, I'm finding that FedEx Ground isn't that bad for otr drivers. They run me like mad and pay is kinda low but I'm making 1200 plus a week so far. Terminals are pretty cool to us. Haven't had any problems yet. I will say that FedEx Express really sucked! I know pretty much any package delivery job sucks though. Most of the FedEx Ground package drivers told me they hated it too and they had it way worse than me.

There have been large layoffs company wide. Laid off another 10 people here. Laid off a bunch more at 241, and others. Not lookin good. What happened to the big comeback? I also think that was a very nasty thing to have someone quit their job and come aboard to only be laid off 1 week later.? Man, I don't know, that's not cool. Got lot's of thinkin to do. 39.gif

They just brought back the guy they fired and have another guy from the dock starting next week... This isn't looking good for me either.hopefully they will give less to cartridge, but the problem is we don't even have enough trucks here...

They say trucking is an excellent indicator of where the economy is at. They also say a lot of the recent exuberance in the stock market was just a result of QE3, not fundamentals. Now there's worry about the two parties sorting out a budget on time and there may be a rebound, once that's settled. The Fed still forecasts a good economy in 2013. Although, if that's true, it makes you wonder why they did pull the trigger on QE3.

We had two large dips/recessions fall 2000 and fall 2007. Those were a big change in the way our stock market and economy behaved. So, I'd expect a more volatile economy and stock market in the 21st century, than we had in the second half of the 20th century and I'm sure all the big whigs do too.

So, if I were in the trucking industry, I'd plan on lots of ups and downs and keep trying to position myself, to take advantage of the ups and not get crushed by the downs.
