i worked for James in 01, best trucking job i ever had, those were the days. hey had a lot of drivers that did not like it there. But i loved it.
i met some Trans Am drivers at the meat patches, and T Am seemed to be of the same ilk. No wonder they bought JHS

I love to break good news! Helwig is now back on his own, some dispute, but I worked at Helwig and loved being there and I am so happy that they are back in business for themselves.
    The Recruiting number is 888-771-3331:biggrin_25525:

I was there for a long time, then I had to leave. I loved being there, it was the best darn job I have ever had. I wanted to go back, but have been off duty for 3 years taking care of my Dad, not realising that the 15 years I had in the industry is now useless. But I was so glad that everyone there remembered me, and they really tried to take me back, but their insurance will only cover 3 years of Experience. Personally, I think it is smart on Helwig's part. He keeps out the riff-raff this way. Even though I had to get turned down, he was nice enough to tell me to retrain, and he would look at me in 6 months. Just talking to everyone made me feel so at home again. It is hard to not be able to go back to the job I really loved. Everyone was asking how I was and why I had dropped out of sight. I really felt wanted. Not many Companies remember employees like that.

Let T/A fall down, They roped me in, told me that they could retrain me and I would be ok. Then I ended up with the superving Recruiter, and I was cut down as fast as the fax went through. The original recruiter I found out, was fired. They never offerred retrainig, even though I requested it and said I didn't mind. Personally I think T/A is going through an EGO ISSUE.

It appears that JHS is under new name after the split. The NEW one is JS Helwig. Same people, different name. As long as it stays the same, I am sure those of us that remember it fondly will not care. I am just glad he got out from under T/A. After the way I got treated there (TA) when I applied, I am glad that I at least have a better option to go back to, but I will first have to go to TA so I can get more experience. I just regret that I ever left. I get attached to a place, makes it hard to leave. All I want is to get my 2 years done, and reapply.

Helwig has never, never been owned by Trans Am. Mr. Helwig SOLD his ciompany in 2005. He started J.S. Helwig in 2007 and to date he has same number of company units, 170, when he sold his original company. The same philosphy that made James Helwig & Son, Inc a great company to work for lives today in the new company. Lets keep the information accurate. God bless America and God bless the men and women who keep it moving.
