While I don't agree with Ms Jamie's "Uhmm, no" tone, she is technically correct. Digital TV and Analog TV are (were) both transmitted via RF (Radio Frequency ) waves.

The main problem isn't receiving the RF wave as that's the same, the problem is in the decoding (extracting the information) as the signals are modulated differently.

Analog Vs digital refers to how information is encoded, not how it's transmitted.

the old analog signal is all over the air waves. it operates basically like a sine wave.

the new digital signal is a direct wave. straight signal. and yes, it does operate at a lower frequency becuase of that.

like i said. any obstruction from whatever angle the signal is coming from will be blocked. tv's have a hard time with the reception becuase of that. it's not just hte tiny usb tuners with there little chips. it's household tv's also.

i never had a problem with my usb tuner when the analog signal was still broadcast.

I've used a usb tuner. It's main fault is that it takes so long to rescan stations for a new area. Of course you first have to clear the presets from the last location first. It works great with media player. Kind of like a TiVo.

Also have to consider the type of antenna. If its not omnidirectional they you have to turn it to optimize the signal.

I'll have to check out the factory software, but media player has such a cool program guide.
