Gilster Mary-Lee will force you to short log your trips but they will pull you off your truck and make you work in the garage for a week at $9.60 an hour if you get caught doing this, a real catch 22, You can write up your truck over and over to get repairs done but the maintenance guys are under paid and are just beat down, Gilster's are the Wal-Mart of the trucking world, lie lie lie (UNSAFE TRUCKS!!!).................... Dispatch will give you a loner truck but they are junk too, they gave me a truck one time it had two flat tires, a real bad oil leak, drove it up to the garage and they told me that they had to put the truck out of service. You can make a pay check but you have to cheat on you log book to make the deliveries on time. There are some good folks there but no one can really help you. GOOD LUCK and be SAFE!!!!

Hadn't heard of Gilster for quite some time. I was at a food delivery place in Seattle a number of years ago and a Gilster showed up with a load of coffeecake mix. It was all over the floor and the customer refused some of the cases. The driver was giving it out to anyone that wanted it. I asked him if he was going to take some and he told me that he had cases of food at home and took them from the truck and just put a short on the bills. Did not impress me much if that was the type of driver the company employed.

I'm sure there are drivers that do that. I'm a honest guy, did my best to take care of the truck as if I owned it, trying to hold the steering wheel after hitting a hole was like riding a bull. Had to get out of that truck before I killed myself or someone else. Sad that a company will put money before a driver's safety. They know a new driver is just a phone call away. And the game keeps going on and on. Please stay safe!!!

Didn't mean to imply you did this Outlaws87 as good drivers hire onto companies all the time and don't know what they are getting into to. I was surprised that this driver did this. I've worked at a couple of companies that claimed damaged freight and just gave it to you if you wanted it or had you throw it if you had to go get another load. Never talked to someone that outright stole stuff like that and was so cavalier about it.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually looking at them but decided not to go after seeing how ratty looking the trucks are.

Hi Snowman01, I did not take it that way at all. I too have come accross some drivers that were a little on the weird side. I know what you mean.
Hey Flatbedn, yeah there trucks look pretty rough and run even rougher. I was not trying to get a newer truck when I was with them I just wanted my truck fixed.

Yeah I don't remember seeing any nice trucks with them. Mostly the purple and blue columbias with the stripes and everyone looks like ####. I went by the steeleville yard the other night and was quickly reminded why i chose not to go with them.

I picked up a load in Mcbride, MO two days ago and I saw they had pretty decent-looking trucks and a big dispatch area. I guess looks can be deceiving.
