Team starting out with US Xpress

the cop is a idiot...... he CAN NOT report it to DAC.....the only person that can report it to DAC is usx safety......

he is required to report it to CSA........ and it will be part of his CSA score for the next 3 years...... will not be a big deal as long as he keeps his nose clean....

as to usx..... safety will look at it next week...... if they are going to fire him (not going to happen for this little thing THIS TIME) it would be next week....... in about 2 weeks he will get a letter from safety about it..... driver preventable (even with 3 spotters it's driver preventable because the driver was the one moving the truck)..... it will list how long he will be on probation......3-12 months is the norm.... KEEP HIS NOSE CLEAN and all will be good....... he will also get in-company CSA points (they last for 1 year)

now remind him to always ALWAYS GET OUT AND LOOK... even if 5 people are helping it's always up to him to make sure he is clear, if he needs to get out 5 times then get out 5 times......

He did. I haven't been to school yet and I wasn't there so I'm not sure what he was talking about. It was him wanting to be straighter or maybe not so straight so he could pull out easier. Idk. Trainer disnt look. He didn't get out and look. He is now thoroughly scared and much more aware. Poor guy but I agree getting out and looking is ALWAYS best. Lesson learned!!!

 

Thats kind of the same info we are getting 'on the streets' we can only hope it holds true in 'real life'. This was a wake up call to him for sure. I always knew that even if the shot looked straight I'm still getting out. I would rather be laughed at than to ever go thru all of this!!! It was an accident. I'm sure he is going to be more aware of what's going on and get out just to be sure.

 

This doesn't really even compare, but I had five incident/accidents in almost 2 years that I was there.....tandems in the ditch twice (at night), tandems up on a snow bank, got hit by a deer, and a customer claimed I busted a 2x4 brace at the top of a dock. It was several weeks before I ever heard their decision as to any of these and I never talked to safety at all. Only my FM, breakdown, and the person I called when I reported the 2x4 (which did get put on my DAC)

I'm a little late getting in on this but will throw it out there anyway. This will not go on the guy's record. USX is very forgiving of students. One of mine hit a boat on a trailer in a parking lot. This was toward the end of his training and we were running as a team so I was asleep in the back. They gave him an extra 50 hours and told them it would not be on his record even though it was a preventable. No ticket was issued, just the normal exchange of info.

 

if a police report was done then it will be reported on his CSA...... even if he was rear ended stopped at a red light it goes on his CSA
usx has no say about what is reported on his CSA

and only the company he is working for can report anything on his DAC
