It seems to me that the stock CB antenna on my GoldWing does not cut it. Anyone have experience with other antennas (such as Firestick) on a touring bike?

No antenna works real well on a bike. Not enough metal for a good ground plane as I understand it. I'm happy if I can talk as far as I can see. Sometimes it will do a little better (08 Ultra Classic)

More metal in the air is always better. I've seen Wings with a 5' helical (Firestik and the like) on them.
As Mike said, though, the ground losses on a bike are quite high. -
Thanks for the replies. Have you thought about a Firestick no ground plane antenna? Could it be that these have the ground plane built in?

Give them a try. Is part of Clay's Radio in TX. Been around for over 20 yrs.
