Currently using the Wilson achieving 1:3 swr. I can talk all day 10 miles on the flats. I should be happy but just like a crack head, I want more! Was thinking of running dual 5ft firestiks properly tuned of course. Am i wasting my time? Would i gain anything including recieve?

I have 2 firestiks that are tuned and on average i have a 1.2 to 1.3 swr... I am using a peaked and tuned cobra 29LX. I have a boot as well, but not using the boot i get good clear audio in and out at about 6 to 7 miles... personally I have been looking at changing to the wilson 2k. you should be very happy with the results of a 10 mile conversation running barefoot I'd say. that is just one mans opinion, but think about it this way too. Wilson guarantees the best performance than any other antenna in that given antennas class. to me Wilson is the obvious choice, and I personally wish I would have started with the wilson 2k even though i prefer the look of the dual firestiks...

I'd stay Wilson 2k all the way. If you can get a 10 mile range, then you're already doing better than most truckers. Heck 10 miles is what I get with a Wilson 1k on top of the roof of my pick up.

You are probly getting out further then that just no body is able to get back to you. Personally, save your money and stick with what you have as it is better then going cophased.

Hey-How are you?I'm far from a CB expert. Many years ago i asked a guy at the CB shop i was at a real similar question. He said "if dual antennas are so good why do base stations only have one?"I'll never run duals.Take care.Brian

Base stations can just get a beam if they want to be directional. I want a beam on my truck!

Cobra 29LX peaked and tuned here. Wilson 5000 with a ground plane addition. Love it all!
