So after looking and applying at different driving companies. I applied at Mills and waiting to give them a call later today. I also am looking at TMC and TSL. TMC has a student drivering trainning class 2 hours away from me. Not sure if I would make it on there because they say after driving solo 30 days your required to get a passport to get into Canada. I can not enter Canada becuse of a felony from 17 years ago. Plan on calling them and seeing what they say,

TSL has a student trainning class in my home town, so big bonus there. I need to call and talk to them later today also.

I also just thought about going to a school on my own and getting my CDL and finding a job from there. Just depends on how things play out.

Has anyone heard good or bad things about TSL?

    Thanks
    Jason

OK TSL is not having a student trainning program as of now. They have way to many loads to pull trainners off to teach classes. :(

Mills dosent hire out of my town because they only run east of mississippi. :(

TMC you need to have your CDL first.

So I think i am just going to go to a local school for 4 weeks of trainning and then go from there.

Yes but I have heard horror stories about them, plus they dont have a "student drivers program" you have to have your CDL first and then go through there trainning.

Hey Maverick, call Crete/Shaeffer a call. They are a really good company and their main terminal is right there in Lincoln. They also have a terminal here in my hometown in Florida. My cousin drove for them and loved working for them.

Make sure to call them first though because they will only accept students from certain accredited schools. Crete/Shaeffer is a really excellent company and your potential for having a long lasting career with them is very high!

Besides them I would also recommend Central Refrigerated. They have a school and will pay for everything up front including lodging, transportation, some meals etc.... I personally drove for them and highly recommend them. They have constant freight going through your area so home time will be a bit better for you with them.

You can also try Craigslist and also this website below for finding good, smaller companies:

    Good luck to you...

Thanks for the heads up. I have decided to go through truck drivers school on my own instead of going through a company. I have heard of crete and there on my list.
