I had two students in the last 6 months that quit before their obligation was over. Both of them found local work near their residence and are very happy. They do have to repay their loan but the repayment options are flexible.

One student pays $150 a month. He said he argued it down from $300 a month.

So, IMHO, you should ask yourself a question.... IF you stick with CR England for TWO more months, your debt to them will be repayed AND you leave on good terms, fulfilling your obligation to them. Now you could leave them and be put on a payment plan... BUT, how long will it take you to pay them back? Would the raise in pay be worth it when you factor in the added debt? Would you really be ahead by getting yourself into debt because you have to pay them back? Plus your record will show that you jump from one company to another. Is it really worth it? I would suggest sticking it out for two months, walking away debt free, having fulfilled your obligations. Trucking jobs are a dime a dozen. No matter where you are working you are always going to find that better opportunity. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and when you get there you have to mow it too!

Don't quit buddy, just keep on truckin with CRE for the time you need for your debt to be forgiven, then you'll owe them nothing, and like others have already said; you'll have more experience and with all local jobs, drivers come and go, all the time. The only exception might be with a big Fex-Ex or UPS, as a driver. However even big freight companies have lay-offs.

Assuming that you are currently making about $30k with CR England, Your pay will go up to around $50k or $1600 a month more. How much was your tuition- $3000? You'll pay for it in two months or less. Looks like a No-brainer to me..

I figured as much about the homeland security...

If I'm not mistaken, there are plenty of these mega-carriers too, and I can just join another one of their schools if something doesn't work out, right? I mean, I will have a CDL...

Thanks everyone for your input. I see your points, but in the end I guess it's just up to me and whether I want to take the risk or not with a smaller, new company. I think however that since the pay is considerably better, I will try it with the new company, simply because in 2 months I will make more than enough to cover my current wages + tuition, with even some little bit of extra. England hasn't been bad to me, but I'm going to thank it for the support it gave to get me started and move on with the new and better. Thanks for your help, everyone.

I'd be gone as soon as I got a better offer. England is a joke of a company anyway.

That kind of thinkin' will take you further in life than the myopic view of 2 months. Take it from an old person - been there - done that - survived it - laughed a lot more and burned no bridges.

How is your DM? Homesick? There are a lot of variables that will definitely influence your decision. But if you only have two months left as a company driver you may want to hack it out. You may not be able to make it home for Christmas though depending on the freight and your DM.
