when i went through orientation back in Jun they said if chains are required then we have to wait until they're no longer required.. and i'm not too sure about the $1800 a week, before taxes? yeah it's possible if your truck runs 85mph and you have three log books and doing drop in hooks at both ends, with a midget Mexican poll dancer in your lap to keep you awake at night.
Other then that, the most i've brought home was $1400 and that was a really really hard week sneaking around in the dark. And there is no training.. i had 6months of flatbed, and one year of van.. Spent 30mins in a truck with a load of concentrated oj, (15min of which i was sittin in the sleeper), the next day i left with a load headed to New Jersery..
Company is mostly OTR, but we do have regional/local. I dont think you can just hire right into it though, maybe out in Clovis, NM, but not in Florida. And what's with everyone switching names, and changing locations. It's like they're running from the Feds or something.

Any tips that aren't common sense to the tanker thing would be nice too. I know the basics about a tank and the sloshing, pertaining to not breaking hard, in turns, and that again "common sense" stuff, but is there anything out of the normal that a new tanker yanker should be aware of. My only real concern is winter driving in a tank, that will def take some getting used to but hopefully starting in Feb I won't have much to deal with until next winter..... Anything helps guys! Keep the awesome info coming plz. -
Irun regional out of Clovis, 1800 miles should be easily attainable. Call and ask them where they have positions open. As far as orientation they normally hold it where they have open trucks and what terminal you will be running from. We are on paper logs

Cyanide Thanks this.

socal If the details that you won't go into are that they push you to run illegal then I missed that post. I read ALL 345 pages, yes...thats right and I picked up on the fact of running hard n strong but not "forcing" me to run illegal. I have no issues with running hard if the miles are there but completely illegal isn't in my vocabulary any longer. That being said, any company will try to use the warrenty first rather then pay out of pocket for repairs, esp if they are covered. I totally understand how dealers work and how you might wait for hrs/days to get loaded or empty, but with everything that has been said in the past 300+ pages + all the trash talk (got interesting for a good while) if what the "details" are is being pushed to run illegal, hell, just come out and say it.
Honestly, as of my personal research, I don't feel its a bad company for MY liking. They are close to my current home and possibly to my relocation place of Houston. I have found a great (so it seems) tanker outfit that deals with chemicals out of Tx however I would first have to relocate their and then apply. IRT actually seems like a decent fit for my personal attitude and for my personal goals on pay, hometime, etc.
Thanks for the input! ps - If it's something specific that your not wanting to post on the forum, feel free to msg me and give me the lowdown so I know for sure! However out of 300+ pages, it actually seemed more positive remarks then negative and lets face it, that says alot in today's forums!! Stay safe out there! -
From reading your post In my opinion you will not like it. I worked there.
Delivery times are set before you load not after,as for elogs lololol.Last edited: Nov 27, 2012

I've been here only about 2 months running out of Clovis Nm and so far I have loved it. Outside of the week I got my home time and my first week out of orientation I've been running avg 2500 to 3000 miles a week.
When I get my load info I head to the dairy so I'm there and ready to load, once I get loaded I head for my dest, if I have 2 days to get there and its only going to take a day I will get to the plant and get in line a lot of times I get unloaded or I'm first in line for the morning. Now Winnbroro Tx is another story it takes forever to get out of there.
I'll admit that you have to know how to log to get the miles, and I don't like to spend a lot of time at the truck stop. It's amazing how much time you can lose at a truck stop
That's the way it has been for me I can't speak for running out of any of the other terminals. -
socal I have no issue with running. I learned how to log a 4500 mile week on 70 hrs. Not to say thats fun or that I did it everyweek but I don't want to be pushed that hard anymore. I have no issue with coloring in my book for a couple hours here and there but I'm not going back to 4hrs a sleep a day again. That is the extreme though, and as of 2016 its suppose to be mandated for elogs, not sure if thats true but its a rumor from a friend that runs a large outfit that is still very much the outlaw types and they are prepairing for it now!
xbmann Running out of Clovis where all have they ran you? They stick you on the east coast or you do alot of the out n back type runs? I'm in socal now and considering a move to Houston they told me that is fine either way but was wondering how often they have houston loads. I would love to stay 35 n west, or at least southwest/south but I'm not picky. I spent many of years rolling rags and having to be 750/800 over night, so that is what I'm not looking for, however coloring is just part of the job if your not on e logs yet and I'm not opposed to it, within reason. i've spent 2hrs tonight researching this company and so far for my eyes I've found 75% to be positive so I think I'm going to put in an app sometime soon and get preapproved. If you wouldn't mind posting or pm'ing me some details about the Clovis term I would like that very much. I wanna do the smart job shopping this time and stick with who I go with for a good while this time.
As always, thanks for the info guys and keep this thread alive with info on this company! It's been a very good thread compaired to others that turn all pissed off xdrivers and seems this one keeps on track. Stay safe!!
