They have kept me moving solid all week. After spending a day and a half in NC running stuff around, I ended up going to Russell Springs, KY, then picking up at our Lexington Yard and running a furniture load to Indianapolis that I delivered this morning. Today it was pick up in Jeffersonville, IN and truck on down to our Tri Cities yard for the night. I deliver in the morning in Johnson City, TN.
Yesterday I stopped for a shower and fuel in Louisville at the SVC. After my shower I stuck my head in the door of our Safety Director based out of their. Asked him if he could give me a safety class so I could get 2 safety points. Our 20 minute meeting ended up lasting 3 and a half hours. Great visit. He clued me in on many great opportunities with Averitt beyond driving a truck. He didn't have to take all of the time to develop my interests and give me multiple possibilities at different career options. It was just plain nice of him and I will never forget it. It really sold me even more on Averitt.
He also asked me if I would be interested in becoming a Driver Trainer. I told him I would think about it however, it won't be happening anytime soon unless they really need me to do it. I like the "ME" time of having the truck to myself.
Add to that a really nice evaluation from my Fleet Manager...this has been a really nice week. I hope all is good with you in your world. -

Does anyone know an Averitt flatbed driver that would be open to talking with me? I go to orientation on Jan 6th.
-
Hey just finish my week of orientation with Averitt and it was the best
decision I could have made. We had 85 people in the class
cause of the holidays. A lot were people who had left and drove for an
other company and came back. Thank to Big Mike and Corysti and everyone
else for their post on here. -
Well, so much for this week for me. I'm sitting here at the Jackson Miss yard this Friday morning with not even 1700 miles for the week. I have exactly 88 miles in the last 30 hours with no dispatch assignment still. I guess the good news is I got a fresh shower and some much needed sleep after I had ran a couple of all-nighters. Hope it picks up next week.

Again, and I cannot say it enough. I am so happy that this thread is helping people. Averitt has been a great company for me and while I do have 1600 and 1700 mile weeks most every week is over 2,000 miles. My average through 11 months is 2300 per week.
I am sitting in Piney Flats, TN waiting for my "drop and hook" trailer to finish getting loaded up then I am headed home for the weekend. Will finish this one off to Burnside, KY on Monday morning. Usually I head out on Sunday but I don't know for sure I will find a place to park for the night so I will most likely just head out on Monday morning around 0500.
Anyone who is new with Averitt should take time to start your own thread and share your experiences. It helped you to read mine and it will help others to read yours.
Have a great weekend!
