There has to be some companies that get you home for a full weekend you would think.....I don't have a problem staying out mon-fri as long as I would be able to enjoy my house and things in my house for at least 48 hrs lol

There may be but Maverick isn't one of them so maybe you need to look elsewhere. We'd all love to be off a full 2 days every week end but we know that's not the way it is. We know that to get the miles, sometimes we have to work 6-7 days a week and very long days at that. If you're not willing to do that then all I can say is...

Good luck in your future endeavors.

Maverick gets you home more than I'd guess 90% of all OTR companies. Then if you look at what companies will hire a new driver I'd say you won't find one that gets you home more than Maverick. Some of the companies that hire new drivers will keep you out for MONTHS on end.

I figure you have to have an ol' lady that's very understanding and supportive, one that pisses you off so you don't mind being gone so much or none at all. Like has been said over and over on these forums Trucking is a Lifestyle and that's just the reality of it.

Yeah it would make it a lot easier if me and my girl fought all the time, but we have been together for two years and don't fight at all. That's what's making my decision so much harder. It sucks because there aren't a lot of jobs you are going to make 40k at without a college degree. I have a degree in criminal justice but I've been trying to be a police officer for almost 5 years now. And police officers don't even make 40k their first year

I've been to Brooklyn the last 2 Mondays. If you have a 1 stop load, You must be sitting at the customer by 6:30am. If oyu wait ant later, traffic becomes pure hell!!! I haven't had a multi stop NYC load yet, but I know it's coming!!!

This was probably my best week so far. I left the house on Sunday morning with a Brooklyn load for Monday. The only good thing about these loads is I can leave on Saturday or Sunday and shut down on I95 about 30 mins before you cross into Delaware. Both of my parents live up there so I get to visit a little, than leave between 3 and 4 am Monday to head on into NYC. This has worked pretty good the first 2 times, but I still don't want to make a habit out of it! After I unloaded, I headed out to the Turnpike to a service area to wait on a w/a.

After an Hour or so, I got a w/a to go to Oswego NY. What a joke that place is! I needed to be there before 9:30pm to get loaded that day....I was there at 4pm Mon. I finally got loaded at 11am Tues!!! Complete ########! I took that to Terre Haute and delivered Wed. I was then sent across town to Certainteed to reload headed near Wilkseboro NC. Had to be there by 3pm Thur according to w/a. I knew it would be close, so I called the customer who informed me that there wasn't supposed to be any deliveries on Thursday due to inventory but they would unload me around 4pm. I still wanted to make it on time in case I didn't get unloaded for detention purposes. I pulled in there at 2:58!

The lift driver actually was ready to unload me even before I had my straps put up! After I got empty, I pulled outside there property and waited almost 2 hours till I was told to go home till Monday ( I requested to be home Sat and Sun this weekend). I will take this week just about anytime....gone for 5 days, home on Thursday night till Monday am, 2365 miles, 2 tarps and hopefully a good bit of detention from Oswego seeing as how I was there almost 20 hours! I thought it was pretty good for only my 4th week, and definitely better than the last 2!
