I don't run there(Sioux Falls, and Altoona, IA) much anymore but the Bosselman's at a few of the Pilots were so good, I'd eat at the start of a break and again before leaving, and that is rare for me. The one west of Des Moines wasn't open overnight, so it has been years since I tried that one, but it was called Granda Max, I think.
Flying J took over an Ambest at Northfield, MN (I-35 x69), and that one was excellent. This was recent, maybe 4 months ago. -
Not everyone fuels at a PeeLot or buy their junk. I personally give my business to the little man. The little mom and pops give far better service and dont have to worry about the not so bright folks that dont kno how to park that blocks another driver. PeeLot will NEVER get my business. Many others to choose from that give service that the PeeLot can not compete. Be safe out there drivers.gokiddogo, mustang190, Logan76 and 1 other person Thank this.

I've dealt with some of the showers at the "mom and pop" places. No thanks. besides, where I fuel and where I shower is rarely at the same location/time. I prefer the smaller, independent truckstops for meal, incidentals, and parking when one is available when I need it. But few of the mid to large carriers allow fueling at these small independents so most drivers have to deal with the Pilot's, Love's, etc and are forced to use the points and shower credits accrued there.
mustang190 and EZX1100 Thank this. -
my thoughts exactly
i LOVE going to the small spots, but their showers can be worse than going in the woodsVisionLogistics and Treefork Thank this. -
Most of the smaller stops are not worth much. The showers are not good and in addition, even if they have a restaurant, the food is not always something to brag about.

Best showers I know of anywhere, though happen to be at a "small independent" ... Little America, Flagstaff. Really nice and spacious and kept to high-end motel standards. If you' been a "good driver " in 2012, treat yourself there in December. The Christmas lights are beautiful, the rooms are pricy but very nice, good food, drink and atmosphere in the restaurant.

yes, but thats LITTLE AMERICA
aint too many truckstops that can compete with thatcorneileous Thanks this. -
That ain't no joke. Even the little america truckstop in wyoming has awesome facilities.
I couldn't believe the showers there actually had both a tub and a seperate shower stall. -
It doesn't say anything like that. I just found it funny it was in there. Especially the one with the restaurant across the street. Funny side note to that: that restaurant serves breakfast 24 hours a day. Which would be great. If they were open 24 hours a day. But they're not. Lol.
