I wish that was an option but we are a small outfit with only 11 drivers & boss man likes to micro-manage. So everything, and I mean everything, goes through him. He calls each of us at least three times a day to see where we are & gets an attitude if we don't answer right away...never mind that we're piloting an 80,000 pound beast, better answer that phone.

What a day!!!
Looks like the boss man is gonna have to put his money where his mouth is and find someone to drive that truck. Before today's incident, I had submitted my application to my first choice companies (Heyl, Cheeseman and Trimac). Well...Heyl just called and said my application was approved & they just need me to go take a drug test!
I'm on top of the world right now! Finally, a decent job offer from a good company that will recognize my local experience. OTR isn't really my first choice, but a guy could do a lot worse than Heyl & I know a good opportunity when I see one.
How's that for poetic justice?
So, Mr. Bossman, I see your threat and raise you a "take this job and shove it!"
It's going to be pretty hard to work out my two week notice after how the boss man talked to me today, but I'm a better man than that so I'll fulfill my obligations.
I am so excited to join the Heyl team, they were my first choice at this point in my career.
Wish me luck! -
Bossman is a dipsheit. Find something else. By all means stay until you have a job opportunity guaranteed elsewhere but nobody needs to deal with a boss like that.
I'm at a point now where I know what I have to do, I'll answer my phone if it's convenient at the time and if it isn't it'll wait and i'll phone back later. I don't deal with micro-management very well to begin with (makes me angry lol), I don't need phone calls to simply ask me where I'm at with the job.
"I'm in a field driving 19 miles an hour trying not to flip a 400,000$ 3-wheeler, or put in in a ditch, or ram it into the forest, or down a ravine, creek .... etc. etc. ... F Off I'll call when I can"
Now that's manager management right there hehe -

Whelp, they yanked the carriage out from underneath the trailer, got out the 'ol fire wrench, got that bad boy red hot and "straightened" it out. All the pins line up now but it still dog-tracks quite a bit. I am still of the opinion that it's not right & I don't wanna pull it. I've put in my two weeks & can't wait to start at Heyl...I can take a lot of stress but I won't be talked to like that and I most certainly won't risk my license, my safety or the safety of others just so someone can save a few bucks.

I actually followed through. Yesterday was my last day, left on good terms and got an apology from bossman! He told me I did an excellent job and if things didn't work out to come right on back & I would have a job. That felt great, too little too late though. I hop on a plane for Florida tomorrow & start my time at Heyl, I'm pretty excited!
skellr Thanks this. -
Congrats on the new job!
And nice job leaving the old job without bad feelings with boss. Sometimes we have to draw a line in the sand. If more people would draw that line there would be alot less BS in the world.
Best wishes... -
Wow the world would be a much better place if more drivers were like you.
A tip of the hat.OtatKen Thanks this. -
