Ok drivers, trying to get all the info that I can on TMC to make an informed decision. I would like any info about the company, good or bad, likes or dislikes, from current drivers. Please have info that is recent, not 2 or 3 years old. Any info would be great as I'm trying to decide between three different companies: TMC, BTC out of Tennessee and Maverick. I'm from northeast Indiana and have seen several TMC and Maverick trucks in my area, so I know I at least have freight in my area for now. I would be a new driver fresh out of school with my CDL if that helps ya. I drove a semi with a 40 ton low boy gooseneck trailer when I was in the Army, but that was 20 years ago and I know that nobody would take that as experience now, just saying that I'm not totally green to driving and tying things down. not trying to change your mind, but if you're from northeast IN. take a look at Buchanan Hauling and Rigging. I think you might find all the advantages of a big carrier like TMC and many that a smaller carrier can offer to boot.

Maverick would be the best. Your in a great area for them. Late model equipment epu on all trucks. Have been with them for years. Good money and home time. Just my two cents.

in my opinion Maverick sounds like a great company if you wanna run flats and i think they may have a terminal in Gary. I did the TMC thing and it wasnt for me..Tarp pay was too low for me and never saw a dime in detention pay.

Thanks Sewerman, I've seen u on here quite a bit. I've read Jim the Hut's thread "Headin to Littlerock" from the beginning, very long read but chocked full of good info!! I think the only thing that worries me about Maverick is the auto trannies. I have no experience with them but from reading on here people seem to have a problem with backing up with them. I figure I have at least 6 months to a year, get as much ready at home as I can, before the driving career starts. Been going to truckstops, have 1 within a half hour and another within an hour of me, seeing which companies pass thru or stop in my area. Talking with drivers on the cb also. If I see or talk to a driver and they wouldn't mind talking some more I'll even by them a cup of coffee or even something to eat just to say thanks for their time and/or info. Gotta take my time and get all the info I can if I'm gonna make a career change. The wife is even wanting to go out with me, not as a team but just to ride alonge and enjoy the ride/scenery.

I could not stand the autos at first. But in time I really like them. I always shift my manually.
Every vehicle I have the standard shift. Backing up with a Auto shift is no problem at all the old trick is to do it slowly. The newer electronic clutches work even better they went to electronic controlled clutch in 2012WhereverIMayRoam Thanks this.
