Overall, very pleased with it, and I'd take it over my old Garmin ANY day. -
What is dermetzgerei?
It Should be DieMetzgerei
If you wanted to go with Der.
Should have been DerMetzger. -
Thanks,

I've still got my refurbed 500....still works fine, but still freezes once in a while....seems to be most common when I'm out in the middle of an "uncharted" area. I just shut it down, turn it back on, and it's good to go.....not a big deal for me. Never freezes while I'm rolling.
For 130 bucks, it was an excellent buy. I almost traded it in on a newer model (got some e-mails about it), but I'm holding on to this one for now. My son is getting a car for Christmas, and I may just give him this GPS. I'll upgrade to a newer RM.
And again....Mark has been a great help (to those new to this RM thread)...great source of info and assistance.Mark Kling Thanks this. -
I have a Rand 510 and am happy with it, but I like what I see on the Garmin 760LMT. The lifetime map updates, the lifetime traffic and the fact I can run it with my phone are big points with me. The fact that it's the same price as the Rand 720 helps. But before I jump to a new GPS I will do a lot of research first.
But from I have seen the 760LMT has a lot more to offer.Last edited: Oct 9, 2012

Do you have live traffic? My 710 has died after a year which sucks but I am looking to the 720 or maybe the 760! Does the 720 use the same dongle I bought for my 710 or is it built in? If so is that an extra subscription? -
Contact me about the 710. The 720 will use the traffic receiver, but the 720 and the traffic receiver do not play well together. Rand knows about this. The traffic receiver will "go to sleep" if in searching mode for about 30 minutes without picking up a traffic signal. You would have to disconnect the power cord from the traffic receiver and reconnect to "wake" it back up.

Question for Mark:
First of thank you for all the info you've provided. I did a lot of research and dedided to purchase the TND-720. It was awesome, but when I woke up the next morning, it had vertical stripes on the screen. I tried to unplug and reset and although the picture of the truck came on, it kept going back to the vertical stripes.
I called Rand McNally and they said it sounded like power surge, they are sending out a new power cord, hopefully that will fix it.
I was curious if you had heard anything about this, did I do something to mess it up?
Also curious about how you became a beta tester, that would be awesome!
Thanks again for all the info you've provided!
